Anyone ever been on a retreat?

I'm talking spiritual retreats here... a place away from everything where you just go for a couple weeks to clear your mind and body.
 


I was gonna go on one last year - was called vipassana meditation; 10 days no speaking, only meditation for like 14 hours a day lol.

I'm still interested in doing it to see what kind of shit comes out of my subconscious.
 
I remember my Math teacher in college (who happens to be one of the smartest people I met) used to go to this temple in India once a year, spend 1 month doing Vipassana (the no talking thing). I've always been curious and actually want to try it myself. Especially on days like this where I wake up hungover and feeling like shit from the night before.
 
I feel that, the 10 day vipassana + a 7 day water fast are two big challenges I wanna tear through at some point.

A friend goes to one (catholic) every 2nd year.

Every time he comes back, he breaks up with his current girlfriend and gets a new one.

She dug into the ground as hard as her tiny arms could. This was the grave for sure. After 3 hours, her fingers were numb and black. The top of the coffin stuck out of the soil. She brushed away the last layer of dirt and looked at it hungrily. She pried it open and gazed for a moment at the decaying corpse of her father inside. "Still juicy" she thought to herself as she moved into position over the body. She looked down at the flaccid penis, fancying it as a worm, ripe for eating. She lunged down and clamped her beak around the penis and tore it easily from the body. Dinner was served.
