I was a kid during the 16 bit era, Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger etc. still one of the best eras in gaming IMO.
For the PS1 era I like MGS, Resident Evil 2, Tekken, Final Fantasy, (I like FF9 despite what people say, it was my favorite)

I tried committing myself to replaying VII recently but it requires a lot of concentration to absorb everything again and in the year 2011, single player gaming is sort of dead. After a while you just sort of feel lonely and disconnected from everything around you, the internet has ruined me.
Speaking of which, anyone tried the latest Mortal Kombat? It looks fucking awesome.

and ocarina of time = best game ever made. Maybe not old school enough but whatever. I've beat many of the final fantasy's but interestingly not 7. I should go back and play that shit. 9 is pretty great too (outside of 3 (6) being the best one).

Wow. I have not seen Alex Kidd in a long time. I think I still have that game in a box somewhere with my old Sega Master System. I also had a Sega Game Gear with a Master System cartridge adapter so I could play Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Wonder Boy in Monster Land on long trips with my parents. That thing took six AA batteries for well under 4 hours of gaming, maybe less than 3 hours.
I only knew one other person growing up that had a Master System.

ocarina of time is disgustingly good. I'm going to buy a 3DS just because they redid OOT and made the graphics better and in 3D. So sick.
