WTF happened to Earth day? When I was a kid in the late 70's/ early 80's it used to mean something... Now calendars don't even have earth day printed on them anymore.

Do they still talk about earth day in schools?

Have you ever heard of Edward Bernays? That's the dude who INVENTED sheeple... Surely he's more responsible for your current surroundings than some marxist in italy?

His wikipedia page is a fine start if you're not familiar with him; but you can't really get to know how every last thread in your life has been influenced and completely taken over and controlled without watching the Century of the Self:

The reason I'm curious is because it's obvious that right-wingers like yourself never mention him when bitching about america; and it's the right wingers who are bitching far, far, far more than lefties these days. -I just can't comprehend why... Unless you see some liberal aspect to his legacy?
 
Beck's talked about him constantly as the father of modern-day propaganda; tactically, he was a pioneer, but ultimately Gramsci was a visionary and had a much broader picture.
 
Beck missed the point; (no suprise there) Propoganda was only a minor contribution by Bernays. He gave birth to CONSUMERISM, and every part of your life is a slave to that.

"Consumerism" or any other ism was merely a byproduct of those techniques; that's simply one of a hundred ways his tactics were used to brainwash people.

So... You think Propoganda (as a tool for use by governments) has had a bigger effect than consumerism? As in everything bought and sold since then?
 
Isn't that obvious? To a marketer, maybe. To a lawmaker, a philosopher, anyone with ideas to spread, dictators, demagogues, politicians, in short, those who actually create the systems within which economic activity occurs... propaganda techniques are of obviously greater importance.

Propaganda has created entire dictatorships, led people to war, converted people to and from religions, affected the structure of governments all over the world, dominated relationship dynamics, etc. It is everything.
 
Well this year earth day is on good friday so no one cares about earth day.
 
Earth Day? I remember that shit from grade school. What a scam, worse than all the rebills combined. I remember that we all paid $10 to "buy a piece of the rain forest." You know to save the Earth, because all the trees were being used up at record numbers and by the time I was 30 there would be no more trees anywhere, at all! Well damnit, I'm grown now and I want my property. What happened to my piece of the rain forest? Who's managing it? Fuck Earth Day.

And the sole guy that gave us all of this plus our modern model of consumerism is less of an influence on today's America than is Gramsci because...?
