@lukep any full auto weapon manufactured after 1986 is not legal for civilians to own without a class 3 FFL (a dealer's or manufacturers license).
With a simple application and a $200 tax stamp to the ATF, a civilian is perfectly legal to own any fully automatic firearm made prior to 1986, though.

A class 3 FFL isn't impossible to get, you just have to show a business purpose and submit to annual audits and random inspections.
I don't think his videos are meant to be strictly promotional for the weapons themselves. He is a 670,000 subscriber YouTube partner, so he gets half the ad revenue from his video views, so he just tries to do awesome shit to get more subs/views, e.g. blowing stuff up and shooting full auto weapons.
