My Amex has bought me a ton of cool shit...

I am flying 5 people first class to Brazil next month for free....I really enjoy my 50 inch plasma, a few computers, $200 gift certificates to Morton's get used all the time....

Meh, heres my shameless plug...

If your currently a student, definitely shoot for a student credit card, not only are your chances of getting approved much higher, but many card issuers are also offering 0% interest for 6 months on purchases, and citi is even offering a card that also has a rewards points program.
All Student Credit Cards

If your not a student you may have to deal with a getting a credit card designed for bad credit, usually these come with an annual fee and often dont have the best APRs but they will get the job done. Cards from Orchard Bank seem to be pretty popular among first time applicants...
All Credit Cards for Bad Credit

Last route you could go would be a pre-paid credit card, simply put, you deposit a set amount into an account that the card issuer has access to and you can go wild, the card acts like a debit card where it pulls straight from the account, once the money in the account is gone you have to deposit more... These cards are good for people with bad creidt/no credit and are also nice for people who tend to overspend with their credit cards... Very important, these cards will also report credit which means you still build credit...

I think I'm going to go with the AMEX blue. I had been trying to decide, and I think my mind is made up after Diorex's post.

citibank premier pass = high limit and then switch it to whatever you want.

Correct. Premier is the best card you can get if you need to build credit.
Certain banks have certain cards that increase your limit much faster than others. Do the research, there's forums out there for this. If you're serious about this, PM me and I will help you.

Lol, Diorex has huge spending limits that's why he's getting all the shit they're giving him. If that's your first card, you'll be lucky to get a limit anywhere remotely near what he's spending.

Without a doubt, Starwood AMEX card. Starpoints are worth around 2.5-3 cents each, which is much more then the 1% cashback from AMEX. Starpoints can be converted into points at any airline or all the starwood properties (Westin, W, Sheraton, St. Regis, Luxury Collection, etc). And if you transfer 20,000 starpoints at a time to miles (any airline) they give you an extra 5000. Card requires high credit score, annual fee, and intrest is very high so you have to pay it off every month, but without a doubt, an incredible card.

Eduardo.

Well, LazyD, thanks for the tips on my next niche market. I felt like neg repping the post for the affiliate link. Then I was like, wait, that's a good market to get into. Cool. A site that shows me how to get started with my own program. So then I was like, POS rep. So in the end, I did nothing, it balanced out.

Heh. Fucking hilarious.

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM CAPITAL ONE.

What's in your wallet? Certainly not Capital One. They gave me a biz card with a $1000 dollar limit. What the fuck and I supposed to do with that? My other two existing biz cards have limits over $20k ... I complained and they told me I need to wait. I hung on the to Capital One and used it occasionally over 1.5 years ... they never raised my limit. I called to cancel and they said they could raise it to $1,500 ... give me break, fucking cancelled on those clowns. Why would I want to have a relationship with a bank like that. I pay in full, on time, every month with every bank I use, and they can't even meet me in the middle on the basics. Useless.

I recommend citibank if you are just starting out. Do decent volume, pay on time, and they will boost your credit limit quickly. Once you build a good history with them you can upgrade to any type of card they offer, depending on your volume.
