Firefox 4

I find it pretty awesome. 3 had been getting rather sluggish due to some of my habits like keeping lots of tabs open but 4 is much speedier.

I have not had problems with ff4 but 3.6 was crashing all the time. But damn it when you have a button on the left side of the window and you put out a new version, keep the damn refresh button where it was.

They are trying to make it look like IE and that sucks. Took me a while to figure out how to get my tabs back down below the bookmark toolbar. Bozos.

Right after that I also switched computers.... Gotta say MozBackup is the bomb as I also use Thunderbird.

I am pretty disappointed, I feel like they just tried to make it more like chrome. The new default skin/theme/ whatever the fuck is totally hideous. I know its mad easy to change that but I can't be bothered to mess with a theme for a browser. Been using chrome more and more lately, way faster and more stable especially with tons of tabs open which I am sure we all need to do quite often.

Can anyone give any insight on better Web Browsers? (Opera, Safari, etc.)

The main reason I switched back to Safari after ditching Firefox instead of Chrome like many other people here is because of how "minimalist" is.

If you want plugins and lots of extra features, Safari blows.

But, if you want quick browsing and no hassles, Safari may be right for you.

I will say, though, that I have never used Chrome before, so I don't know how it compares...

It was amazingly fast at first, now it's very choppy. I think chrome is still better.

Mozilla is starting to build market with the Google chrome. Its kind of competition and they are really doing well regarding Firefox and its add-on

Can't wait for Chrome to gain another 10% or so market share so more developers will start giving a shit about testing for it. When I try to go purist with Chrome (chromium) it's great 95% of the time until I run into some (usually large commercial) site that breaks and I have to load up Firefox. These days I usually run both Firefox and Chrome at the same time. Personal stuff on Chrome / business & development stuff on FF.

That's true, but I'd say it's more like Opera. That's been the pattern over the years though; a lot of the standard features and looks of browsers were first in Opera.

If it wasn't for the lack of add-ons and some it's quirks, I'd say Opera would easily be the best overall. Their market share has never been too high as they don't have the huge promotional efforts like the others.

I used Opera for a while full time because it was the snappiest browser around. But after Chrome came out it pretty much lost all appeal. Unfortunately, I see it going the way of Netscape -- at least on the destkop. It's a shame because they did contribute some innovative features to modern browsers.

Although, honestly I kind of wish a solid browser like Chrome would take over like 80%+ of market share so web development wouldn't be a cross platform nightmare, seeing as the major players have made it abundantly clear they're unwilling to cooperate on standardization.

ff4 is buggy as fuck and so is opera imo (i used to love it).

ie9 (shockingly enough) is really good.

chrome (chromium) is fast, just don't like the feel of it.

Obviously you haven't used Firefox 4.

idiots FTW
yes, i didn't :bootyshake:. FF4 doesn't have addons i use since they are for 3.6xx
so better off to stick to works best for you and not waste time during the usual beta bug-test and transition period

Memory usage between chrome and ff seem the same. Chrome just opens a bunch of processes, while ff opens one.

Out of curiosity, why do you care it's using your memory? I want it to use memory, that's what it's there for. Just like how memory in linux works - max it out, make good use of it. Now, if you only have 2gb ram and it's taking up 1.5, then maybe that's an issue.
