You clearly have never programed an indexing bot.

Googlebot would need to actively search by name to find a wordpress plugin directory... And of course you COULD rename that directory if you were paranoid.

"A manual culling of the footprint" is on the same plane as "Unicorns shooting rainbows out their asses" with something that simply posts blog posts.

Most autoblog plugins that were caught did something stupid like try to take credit for their work. (i.e. run an affiliate program for the autoblog plugin and force a link to it on their blog...)

That kind of footprint a 5-year old can find. But no indexing bot could spot this kind of thing without adding unacceptable search functionality.

You're not ignorant; just a tad naive. robots.txt is a file that _Requests_ that bots do not go certain places. -Googlebot says they do so, and usually does follow those instructions, but has been known to not do so at times... And no serious SEOers really trust the rest of the bots online to even read the file at all. (Well maybe bing.)

Yeah...well that's why I came here; to learn more and improve my own knowledge as I try to make some real coin online.

I can understand where you are coming from and appreciate the reply. Like most, I wouldn't trust google as far as I could shit them.

I actually expected something worse than "naive" though lol
