A few days ago I deleted a blog I had up for over a year on blogger.com . I then started getting emails from a few readers who were pissed that it now directed them to a porn site. I checked and they were right. Anyone picking up deleted blogger blogs after they get deleted? If so how are people finding out right when a blog gets deleted?

Seems like a good idea to get a little free traffic.

I'm wondering why you delete it instead of throwing a few ads up or something else

I would image people just query the "blog not found message" and then create/hack the appropriate account/blog same as wordpress.com...well at least the way they used too

Its the same way you can get old mySpace accounts with a decent pagerank, you check to see which blogs have recently been deleted and you can then use that name to register your new blog with, hence obtaining all the backlinks the previous user had gotten for that link.

This might of happened to you and the new person tossed up a bunch of porn. Is the site it directing to a blogger.com site or is it their own domain name?

Because if the porn site has its own domain name then this is not whats happeneing unless the new blogger.com account it doing a re-direct to the domain.

It dealt with online poker and with all the legal shit going on with that I didn't want to be involved. But you are right I wasn't thinking and should of just put up adsense or something.

They are redirecting to the porn site.

Thank you both for clearing up how they found the deleted blog...makes sense now.

Anyone have success finding deleted blogs and throwing up ads or redirecting to ringtones, etc?

I have snatched up a few deleted yet indexed blogger blogs (and wordpress and wordpress mu and......) myself but how are they redirecting it to the porn site? Can you embed js into a blogger homepage?

Yeah you just insert a redirect in the template, nothing else in the template, there are a number of ways to do a re-direct but which ever one you want to do, you can just toss the code in the template and it will work.

Everytime I see your name Aequitas I think of the boondock saints, a sweet movie

Aequitas said:
haha thats exactly where I got it from and yes its a sweet movie, did you hear the creator of the boondock saints is trying to get money for a second part?
Serious? That would be sweet as, the twins are such weird people, they go from being meat packagers to fucking crazy ass pinpoint hitmen. Awesome

very cool movie indeed, why would he struggle to raise funds for the second flick. I thought the initial movie did well

Is there any other ways to find blogger accounts.. I mananged to get a few in the past but I did the searches now and none are available?

The first movie did do well, I'm not sure why he was struggling to get funding for the second one, I do know that he had two or three movies waiting to be approved for financing and one of them was for the second boondock saints, and there were two other ones though, he basically said whichever one gets funding first is what is going to be started first. I'll try and find the link for that.

As for locating deleted blogger accounts, the same way you locate a deleted myspace account, search for the deleted message on Google with quotes around it, umm shit I cannot remember what the deleted message is now.
