What supplements do you take?

Honestly GNC is very over priced for common products.

Check out bodybuilding.com's store guys. Way cheaper for non-GNC brand products. GNC products cost more money for the sole reason they market offline heavily. Shoot me a PM if you want some supplementation/work out advice.

Scumbag papajohn: Checks Bodybuilding.com for reviews and info, buys from Amazon since it's cheaper and has a prime account

Hold the phone nigga. All you need is:

whey protein

fish oil (unless you eat wild salmon every day like i do)

flax (for the ALA, this is to complete the omega-3 combo. fish oil has only EPA and DHA)

multi vitamin (i'd recommend GNC, they are most consistent with claimed ingredients vs actual ingredients)

optional (not recommended):

creatine ethyl ester (NOT monohydrate or malate or anything else)

pre-workout shit like jack3d, or any nitric oxide supplements. totally unnecessary, any benefit will be marginal at best or a placebo effect.

For all of the above people taking supplements, do you take them because you read about the benefits or do you take them because after trying them you saw some kind of dramatic "holy balls, I'm a superior human being now" effect? I've tried a range of supplements from reading about them or getting recommendations, but I've never tried something that produced very profound results I could link to taking the supplement.

I miss when ma huang was legal in CA. Anyone know of a legal substitute?

Usually liked it with guarana - the old Ripped Fuel formula. Not for body building or anything like that - just for the way it worked.

Elaborate on why ethyl ester of monoydrate.

no loading phase, and no water retention

but again, i wouldn't recommend using creatine anyways. Your lifts will go up a little bit when you start taking it, and they'll go down a little bit when you stop taking it. Yeah it will improve recovery and gains a little bit, but IMO the gains are not worth putting extra shit in your body. Creatine is only worth it if you're going to be competing in something, or if you use it long term. And it hasn't been around long enough to know what the long term affects may be.

"profound results" usually won't be found as it is "supplementation." The number one thing to do is get your ass in the gym and lift weights.

I lift heavy 4 times a week and take 100% ON Protein and can notice the difference in gains and appearance when i'm on it compared to when i'm off it.

You do realize creatine is found in red meat right?

and for the extra price ethyl ester does not even come close to the same results as mono from my experience.

1) Yes creatine is found in red meat (and fish). Two main differences. First, you could not realistically eat enough meat in one day to achieve the same amounts of creatine that have been proven to improve lifting ability. Second, there is a difference between natural creatine and processed creatine found in supplements. Don't ask me specifics, I'm not a scientist. Take creatine if you want, I don't care. It's just my personal opinion that it's not really worth it to take it.

2) It's widely known that some people are non-responders to creatine, or specific types of creatine. YMMV

Correct, and I don't really respond to creatine at all, especially ethyl ester. I get a little strength boost from mono.

I don't take the stuff anymore as (in my case) it doesn't make a huge difference, but I have friends that have gained alot of strength from it.

Is Jack3d a substitute for an EC/ECA stack?

CEE? Why? I haven't seen any truly double-blinded, placebo-controlled studies showing its efficacy over creatine mono. Plus... ever taste it raw? It likens to licking a 9V battery. Really weird.

I agree on the pre-workout shit - if you're on a budget, skip it. But if you're mad ballin due to your site getting out of the sandbox, then it's a fun thing to take.

But it's not total placebo. The stuff in Jack3d for sure makes me a better swimmer. I know how to gauge my lung capacity -- the 1,3 dimeth + beta alanine + schizandrol A is for real. I can go 50m underwater with that shit in me - never without.

I love this shit- T NATION | Rhodiola - Most Potent Adaptogen 15% Rosavins

Rhodiola is a herb that helps your body adapt to and resist – physical, chemical, and environmental stress. It sounds like some hippy bull shit, but when I take it I feel more alert and awake. Also, if I drink and take it before bed I never have a hang over in the morning. There is quite a bit of info on Google about it and T-nation cites all its sources.
