Some fucker just threatened me with negative SEO, all because I asked for a backlink. :boid:

Is it possible and how can I make the fucker rue the day? (and defend myself against it) At the moment he's ranking #1 for my search term in a very niche, low comp market

Any info gratefully received.
 


I like your style - ask the guy ranking first (knowing he's not their by coincidence) to link to you.

It depends on his domain age and link portfolio. One of my sites was nuked by a competitor that threw me off for awhile. It's only a short term solution.

Negative SEO is real and sometimes happens accidentally when ordering a large quantity of links without proper experience.

To just outright threaten you makes me think he's probably bluffing. I really don't think You're worth the time of someone who has the ability to follow through.
 
move on. If you are nuked within a few days, be sure to take revenge.

recently a site i manage was nuked. No clue who did it. Went straight to #55 - 65 overnight from the top. It costs a lot to get back where you were previously.
 
Yeah, some shithead is doing it to one of my domains currently. It's working, too, despite all my high quality backlinks. Pain in my fucking ass.

+1. People that can do it just do it, not threaten it on a whim. However if it's you tell me "fuck you I didn't want a link anyway and I'll outrank you in a week" I would definitely throw it back at you, justified. But that's just me.

Copy all his content and spread them across a shit load of sites. That should be negative seo... lol

Where are the "if building xrumer links to your money site would sandbox you, then you could easily take down your competitors" people?

It's pretty common knowledge too many links too fast can send your site into the "sandbox". I think you're confusing yourself with the people who say "if building xrumer links to your money site would HURT you, then you could easily take down your competitors".

Sandbox does not = taking down your competitor. Maybe temporarily. I'm not saying negative SEO doesn't exist I"m just saying you got your shit twisted on this one.
 
Negative seo is not done by blasting links.

If you wanna nuke someone, build a foot print.
Make them a big fat, barely spun interlinked footprint and then ping the hell out of it.

Mess with their anchor credibility by wacking them with exactly one term 1000s of times.

Set your scraper to grab their content minutes after they publish it, then duplicate it all over the damn place + ping google to check your sites out first.
DMCA them or claim email spam.

Email them about buying links for a different but related term. - Point it towards something that looks legit initially. Then turn the page into crap fest of malware and penis pill links so they get penalized for linking to you.

Buy them crap traffic or a bouncybot package.
