I'm not going to bore you w/ a backstory, but basically i can live wherever i want with my job. I travel 5 days out of the week, so justifying rent is meh, but i'd be happier living in a place like california with a lot of peers.

i live in PA, and have never been out there, so i'm clueless as to what areas are better than others.

for those of you out there, help a bro out and recommend me some nice spots.

i'm looking for 4 main things:

  • rent between $7-1,100
  • close to a beach & warm year round
  • lots of chill people around my age 22-26
  • cool places to hang like chill outside bars & nice restaurants
thx fellas

isn't $7-1,100/month pretty low for cali?

or will you be getting a roommate or two?

tip: if you do get roommates and they happen to be female, but you have a very conservative land lord, faking an alternative lifestyle will curtail most of the issues. cannot promise that there won't be a ton of hilarious misunderstandings though.

i'll be living w/ my girlfriend - i've been looking at rents online, and i think 900-$1100 is achievable.

I'm not trying to live in a huge pad, 7-1000 sq feet is fine w/ me

The beach communities on the coast are a bit pricey but if you guys are going to rent an apartment or something like that Ventura would work for you. Not crazy rent prices but very nice weather year around and plenty of good people/bars within walking distance.

There are better options but the price goes up drastically from there. I live about an hour from Ventura right by Magic Mountain and we get out there as often as we can in the summertime when it's 110 here it's usually about 78 there. They have a huge fair every year, nice marina, cool racetrack and lot's of places to camp on the beach.

Yea that's my next move! We just spent the day out there last weekend. So beautiful.

I guess I'm starting to sound bias at this point aren't I :-)

that sounds pretty nice, the race track especially!

i really don't need to be on the beach, i know rents are crazy high the closer you go. i just want a beach to be within driving distance, like 10-15 minutes

You can get walking distance for your price range in Ventura. I was not talking step out the front door and into the sand.

Friend of mine has a couple of those places. Man are they nice!

venice beach, santa monica, anywhere in west LA is pretty nice -- lot of stuff to do and mild weather year round. long beach would also be a great choice. tons of young people, bars, places to eat, stuff to do.

Pacific Beach San Diego covers all of your 4 points and prob more people between the ages of 21-27 as your ever going to see in one place.

I live here now, and it...uhh... ROCKS!
