This is Why Im Scared of Water!

Like someone else said, don't underestimate the power of water.. My brother and I were rock fishing a few years back and it was quite rough but I said fuck it, it'll be fine. A small wave crashed on the platform we were on.. white water was only about 1ft deep but it knocked me on my ass and started to carry me in. The only reason I didn't go in is because my brother jumped on top of me.

That girl on the end was so close to getting free but she just stood there. You notice everyone else ran to the side but they all just gathered in the middle.

I don't get the people on the shore.

NO ONE is doing shit to help them, yet there is ample time to whip out your camera and film a family going down.

As soon as the next ship is leaving this planet, I am on it.

Exactly. My Uncle almost drowned about a month ago. He was in water just past his knees, it looked fairly calm, but there was an under current (not sure if that's the correct wording) that he couldn't see and walked into. It swept him down the river a couple hundred feet. I've also stood in river water that was fast moving, but nothing as bad as that video. I can't imagine what they were doing out there, and without life jackets! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Oh, and the people telling them to "just move". With water that fast, and the slick rock on your feet. It's a VERY hard thing to do. Much easier said than done.

Did you see how strong the current was? Anyone that tried to save that family would have died as well.

I'm not trying to defend anyone, but the photographer may not have expected such a tragic outcome. Its a tourist place and everyone was just taking snaps and videos.
As seen from most people's reaction in the video, i don't think anyone expected such a tragedy till the very last moment. They were initially in not much hurry and is seen running slowly. I feel they never expected water with such a huge force.

Oh and if anyone else has watched this 50 times like I have. I think they were going to try to walk to land together. They were all holding hands. Then the girl in the front falls and pulls everyone down with her. pretty tragic :/

There was really no way to help them unless someone had rope or a pole. You'd be dead even quicker if you started to enter the water, the current was too strong.

Those people were idiots and deserve to die. They shouldn't have had other people try to risk their lives because they were dumb.

Just came back from Niagara Falls for the night/casino/hotel/etc... the whole time we were doing the 'admire the falls' thing, all I could think about was this vid/tragedy. I'd watch a batch of water go over pretending people were in it and just get butterflies in my stomach watching it drop cringing my toes and face. Fucking nightmare come true.

PS - and a very stupid thing to have been doing in the first place (I'll assume it was one persons idea to 'stay' for a bit and figure it out on a rock vs. jetting), but still I feel sorry for them that's a horrible way to go.
