What to do with $35K?

Negative on the "buy precious metals" advice, not at their current valuations, leastwise not gold. In fact, invest that 35k in a leveraged bear ETF betting against gold.

$35K is about chipping away at the amount I spend per year on Patron and Kryppie buds. Maybe a few trips to Amsterdam and Ibiza thrown in but in all honesty, $35K is chump change.

A good job as a C++ programmer or database adminstrator in NYC will nail you $150K per year.

Looks like we have someone who is not only fucking stupid, but also a liar.

long term put options on gold and oil.

Buy a house in Alabama or somewhere like that, collect the $700 rent (after property manager) every month forever. The cash flow will last a lot longer than the $35K. Then you can blow it every month and still have more coming. Otherwise you will blow the $35K faster than you ever though possible.

I personally agree with this, but have no strong evidence.

I think too many things are up in the air right now to invest in anything. It's a coin flip market as we speak, IMHO
