Bulking Up

I gained two inches in one workout precisely for those reasons.

I wasn't on a special diet. It was my first serious workout ever. I had just read about Arthur Jones and HIT.

I got on the machine. Found my one rep max manually (Don't do it, not safe), put 80% of my 1RM on the plates and did a couple reps, real slow until I couldn't do another rep. I tried one more time and knew I reached failure. I did the whole SuperSlow(TM) thing and negative reps too:

That's all. It must have been eight reps max, surely not more. I felt sore as a motherfucker for about 5 or 6 days, which is why when you do HIT you hit the gym only about once a week. Twice if you're doing a split.

As far as the measurements, it was almost a week before I measured 2 inches of growth.

If you're weight training consistently you won't make such dramatic changes. But for a newbie who goes in all out, on good form, and goes straight to failure, I'm sure it'll possible.

Always track your gains too ... timing of when you weigh yourself is very important

I guarantee you not one of you bicep curling meatheads could do even 2 handstand pushups.

You can't just say "none of you guys can do this" just because we haven't practiced it. That's like saying "I bet you can't play guitar like Eddie Van Halen" to someone without any fingers.

Btw, I bet you can't even do a pullup while keeping your body completely parallel to the bar.

Ya. Though if you ask how to pick up chicks on a PUA forum, you still get a lot of really stupid answers. Works for health though.

Go to www.fitday.com and track your calories. You can set your goals and it will provide you with the necessary macros (Protein, Carbs, Fat) that you need to consume. Since you are trying to gain 50 lbs, I wouldn't be choosy with your macros. Google "clean bulk" so you can get a variety of diets and bodybuilding foods. Your biggest thing is to simply train yourself to eat.

Supplements:
I use the following. Whey Protein (Nitrean is great, a little pricey. Muscle Milk good substitute), Concrete Creatine, Xtend (intra workout BCAA), multi vitamin, fish oil.

Workout:
As a beginner just keep it basic. Chest/Tris, Back/Bis, Legs, Shoulders/Traps. There are a million workouts. I've done nearly all of them, but until you understand teh movements keep it basic. Also don't go ego. Lift what you can lift, everyone in the gym has started at the same place as you did. There are so many tools online that are a huge help.

Good luck.
