Who here could handle a "real" job nowadays?

I have a real job.

But the owner is kinda like Kruger from Seinfeld.

Actually its the best job I evah had -- he's not a ballbuster in any way.

I basically run shit like it's my own business and he never questions any decision I make.

Having said that I am working to get out.

What kind of lame ass guys are here on wickedfire?
This dude has 1000+ posts and acts like he is some highly successful affiliate pro, and in the end he has a fucking 9/15 job and is probably frustrated with his ugly wife and ugly kids?
I guess this 1000+ post count even gives him some kind of authority on this board, and in the end this useless 9/15-rat that isn't even successful? LOLOLOLOLOLOL

I saw lots of threads like "let's ban noobs that are useless fuckers", I think we need a new thread "let's ban useless fuckers that have 500+ posts", because I'm seeing such people here a lot recently.

Honestly, most of you guys are fucking lame douchebag losers.
LOL brb caviar lunch u mad?

I know the most pleasurable thing I have ever done was build websites, rank them, and throw adsense/CPA/CPS/eBay on them and rinse/repeat. The only time I fucked up was putting on contact forms on those sites to please Google and then having those forms work and actually email me shit people put in them.

After about the 40th email of people asking me "how can I buy" type of questions, I disabled those damn forms.

Or you can have those forms, just change the email address.

Word. I get emails like that all day. Fortunately, they are banished to dusty ass email accounts that are checked maybe once a year.

I work for the fucking tax man as he gets an almost equal share of anything I earn.
This is a good point, sadly.

But it's up to YOU how you're going to structure your biz (LLC, S-Corp, Offshore) in order to minimize the damage by our inescapable shared master.

LOL; I remember the day I came to the conclusion to disable my forms very well... It was in 2007 and I was rolling in it due to having lots of Acai Berry adsense sites! God I wish those days would come around again...

Before then I thought I could do something like "help" or even make more money in other ways like getting them on a list... Pure fantasy. That's not what people were wanting, they just wanted the info that google told them I had. Plain and simple.

I'm at a point now where I don't even send them to an email box anymore... I have removed the forms altogether. Why? Because lawyers, threats, and other things you don't want in your life can't contact you this way.

Remember, this is a numbers game. You've always got to be asking yourself if the number of "good things" you'll be getting from these emails is worth risking the number of "bad things" that you might get from them.

If the email bounces then the law says you didn't receive shit.

I have a job. All I have to do is turn up by around 9am and not fuck up and they pay me $1100 for the day. Yes that money is only 5 days per week (rather than 7) and I have all the bullshit you detailed above, but the job is flexible enough that I can take 2hr lunches and work on IM shit during the day and nobody bats an eyelid so long as my work gets done. It's a large company so my boss is a middle manager who is in the same boat as me, so he gives a little more of a fuck but not by much.

The issue I have is getting enough motivation to work on IM in the evenings after I get home from work, but I know I'm building a long term future so I do it. I have a fair way to go before I match my daytime salary with a long term profitible IM business but it's slowly getting there.

God damn, what do you do?

i could handle it easily. i used to work offline during the day and online at night with no problems.

I could never get a "9-5" job. In fact, I never really had one as an adult. The last "job" I had was being a Marketing intern at a big oil company. I basically only worked from 10am-2pm and realized its a huge fucking joke. Unless you have a vested interest in the company you are working for (ownership stake) there is nothing to motivate you to work hard.

As soon as I graduated university, with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering (useless as fuck), I started doing IM. 2 years later I'm supporting my wife and I as we live in a nice condo in downtown Vancouver. My main website is doing great, and I'm planning on selling it next year for somewhere in the millions. Would I be doing this good if I took a 50k a year job? Fuck no.

To those of you saying you can just work a 9-5 and do IM at night, let me guess you don't have a wife or children right? Because once you throw those in there, there is no way in hell you will be willing to work 18 hours a day.

@Andrew Scherer: I got alot of respect for you bro. I think the reason you think you will always have a boss is that you are in a service business. You need to create good relationships so your business can thrive. I understand this is taxing. I think with your SEO knowledge you are better off creating your own whitehat site that is brandable. I think thats what IM is truly about. Sitting back and watching your commissions/adsense clicks/leads/whatever pile up everyday while you are free'd up to spend time with family or learning other hobbies.

Thanks Paper. ^ That is cool of you, I respect that.

My original statement was maybe taken too literally. Working for someone else doesn't necessarily have to be in a boss/employee relationship.

I sometimes see people say, "Hell no, I couldn't get a job because I can't stand someone making money off my efforts." This is a common statement I've seen on this forum. But, unless you're the federal reserve, there's always another element that will leverage your efforts. That's OK, it's just part of life.

Generating leads or adsense clicks which advertisers profit off of is working for someone else if you broke it down. You could say it's a partnership, but affiliates would be the lowest common denominator in that partnership, that's for sure.

This is one of the reasons I believe affiliating shouldn't be considered a lifelong career, but rather a solid foundation which you can use to reach for bigger and better things.

If you've been doing it for just a couple years you've already (hopefully) got a sick skillset you can call on to give any venture you can come up with a solid chance at success.

God damn, what do you do?

Performance/technical software test consulting and management for large companies, with 15 years experience.

So don't work hard.

I used to do this when I was married (now divorced) with a daughter. It's possible, you just tend to not fuck around as much as use your time more effectively.

Want a job done quickly? Give it to a busy man to do (really busy not just pretend "I'm working soooooo hard" busy).

After thinking about it for a second, you are right. These affiliate commissions that I'm banking hard with pale in comparison to the actual advertiser/retailer who I sent the sale to in the first place. That's why I'm working on becoming an advertiser

@DreamMachine: For anyone to keep their sanity, working 40 hours a week plus an additional 20-30 hours at night just won't work for very long. Everything in your life will suffer.

I work 8-6, married, 9 month old twins, and will normally stay up until2-3 am working on ads....

With that said it is exhausting and I am not always the funnest person to be around but it's all paying off.

This month is my first profitable month since I started running shit back in March. I have managed to pull in 300-500 a day and as long as it sticks I will leave the 9-5.

working 9-5 with kids possible? yes! Ideal? No! but you do what you gotta do if you wanna be the man instead of work for him!

Here's all I have to say about Outsourcing:

Congratulations on your success! I remember the feeling I had when I first started making the money that I would have made if I found a job as a Mechanical Engineer. Nothing better than that!

I guess I should change my previous statement to say that its possible to work 18 hours a day, but not forever.

Seems like with young children its possible, but with 2 older kids having all their different sports/performances/social events it could get tricky...

Congrats once again.

Pitfalls of my great 9-5
* As I get more capable at doing things I'm expected/pressured to take on more and more.
* The volume and range of knowledge I keep on tap.... trading systems, back office limitations, characteristics of every type of equity/bond/derivative/mortgage, industry regulations, country regulations, corporate procedure and daily economic and market news
* Be the expert on everything I touch. I cannot ever be wrong. Questions would be raised two levels up. Lots of money could be damaged.
* The big bonus comes once a year, and it's 3 months into the following year. So I'm guaranteed to always "lose" at LEAST 1/4 of what I worked for when I leave.
* Mental capacity is depleted every night. Some days I skip dinner and sleep.
This is really one of the best jobs in the industry too.

I got myself into this, and I'm getting myself out in a couple years.
Those of you who have made a good living at internet marketing, kudos!
