The violent crime rate of blacks is about 1/3 of what it was in the 1960s and half of in the 70s. These are facts. The level of fear within you or anyone else, does not change what is actually going on in reality.

I live in a very chocolate city. There has always been an almost palpable feeling of racial tension here. While crime is indeed down, a racial riot here is something impossible to rule out. Currently there is a political war going on with merging city and county school systems that is shaping up to be the black city vs. the white suburbs, and similar to the national political discourse, our local officials and media subtly inject race into the dialog.
There is no way in hell I would consider going through some neighborhoods on a bike, and would prefer not to by car. If a group gangs up on someone for whatever reason, I fully support the victim blasting with a Glock 18 and 30-round magazines if that's what they're packing.

We have an area in my city that used to be a ghetto. Then the white hippie liberals on bikes started to move in, house prices soared. They cleaned up the area. Now blacks cant afford to live there. Theres a new ghetto forming in other area, its turning into a shit hole. White people moving out, and house values are dropping like a rock. I dont understand why they keep blaming the white man. it hasn't been bad at all in the past 10 years or so. not like it was in the early to mid 90s when movies like "boyz n the hood" and menace 2 society were coming out, but tensions are starting to build again. i would bet $ there's riots in black areas in the next few years.
