4. In general, learn the principle of adapting. Don't blame the situation, don't blame your luck, and don't blame the other people involved. Figure out who/what you're dealing with and then figure out how to modify what you can to have success within that framework (or exit the situation, if appropriate). I'm guessing this is an issue for you in a lot of situations.
