iPhone 4S = disappointment = Android here I come

I got the Samsung Galaxy S II the day it came out. It rocks so far as a phone. I upgraded from a Blackberry though so I am new to smart phones though. The phone is fast as hell, has an awesome camera, awesome display and is really thin and light. Android is a cool OS and I am totally happy with it so far. Samsung Galaxy S II in my opinion trumps the iPhone based off of my limited experience using the iPhone 4 - faster, better display, better camera, etc.

Don't have an Android phone, but my android tablet really has me considering one. The iPhone is nice, but it's not the "end all, be all" that so many fanboys want you to think. After you get over the shininess of it, it's really just a nifty handheld gaming device.

Bummed about the non released iPhone5. Been waiting for it. Also a new updated macbook pro with a Macbook air style body. My old 2006 macbook pro gets real hot even with the fan control... heavy as a beast too after a while. DW has the air - sweet machine... so slick.

ha, I had to spend a week on an Ubuntu machine a few weeks back, I felt like I was developing on a game of jenga. Fuck up one config file and shit breaks, close the lid and you have to restart the machine. It was like they haven't been building Ubuntu for over SEVEN YEARS, shit felt like it was in beta still.

To each his own I suppose. For us ruby coders, a mac is like heaven.

Ubuntu has never jived with me. I've had it just randomly break several times, refuse to boot, or update incorrectly.

You can make the laptop do anything you want it to when you close the lid. Though there are two things I like about my crapple - the suspend state battery life, and the two finger scrolling. I sorta even like the two finger right click.

Couple of things I'd like on my mac out of the box:

cut/paste folder/files in finder
finder to not be a piece of shit when installing stuff
ssh mounting out of the box
webdav out of the box
upnp client out of the box
a proper maximize button
disable task grouping
cmd ~ to go fuck itself
faster key response out of the box
proper shell support for scrolling out of the box
not fucking up my remote shell colors
the cmd key can go fuck itself in general, totally unnecessary. it's caused me to hit cmd+q instead of w, due to it's location on the keyboard
not having sharp edges which put my wrist in agony
remove all the annoying drm shit
get rid of itunes
disable hot keys by default

I spend 3/4 my day in Chrome, shell windows, and vim. Gnome 2 does a perfect job of that.

I agree with you I lked the 3 better the 4 does some screwed up stuff for me like combining numbers, "making" categories on the main screen, etc....fucking went backwards....photos the only thing better.

I've owned 3 iPhones and moved to a Galaxy S2 a month ago and never looked back. Just the fact that I don't have to use iTunes to get music onto the device is worth the price IMO. I look at iPhones now with their small screen and kinda laugh.

I've used almost every Apple product from the Apple IIe up to the latest Macbook Pro, and I'll stick with my PC thanks. (Not just played with, but used-to-get-work-done.)

I have an iPhone 3G that still fucking works like a champ 2 years after purchasing it. Every LG, Samsung, piece of shit I had before would eventually break in 6-8 months, leaving me up shit creek with no upgrade options. Not to mention, it's STILL pleasant to use the phone and every once in a while I catch my self noticing just how well designed the thing really is. It is everything a person could want in a phone.

I do not need my phone to hack into the main terminal mainframe or to play some 3D ass game. I need my phone to shoot emails, play music, and text bitches. The iPhone does all of the above flawlessly.

Apple products do what people want them to do

1. Be sexy
2. Work well


Also, I just switched over to a macbook and let me reaffirm what dchuck said. For a web developer, MAC OS is the fucking shit. The file organization, stacks, hell even photoshop looks better on a Mac. Not to mention, I really really dislike cheap feeling shit. And there is no PC product that even comes close to the build quality of a macbook. That shit is undebatable.

Not sure on the girth of your wrist, or if there is any excess flab on said wrist, but my slim/normal sized wrist rests just fine on my macbook.

there's a significant difference between being based on the linux kernel and being a linux desktop OS. There's also a massive difference between playing with your friend's iphone or macbook or actually using one for enough time to form an objective opinion about whether you like it or not.

Cracked my iPhone 4 screen a couple days back and was anxiously expecting the release of the iPhone 5 so I can snatch it up instead of just purchasing a new screen for my iPhone 4 ~ equates to $100. But just like a lot of people, I am really disappointed with Apple just rolling out the "4", when everyone was expecting a whole new re-design for the iPhone 5. God damn, there apparently were cases for the iPhone 5 leaked everywhere, showing how it's now slim and shit, but I guess it's too early for that. I suppose that the iPhone 5 will be mentioned in Q2 2012.

I'm still going to end up buying the iPhone 4S since I'm still locked up in the contract and I'll admit I'm a iPhone fanboy.

fuck the iphone 4, still on 3gs. I never upgrade the next newest, i always sit out a version and then go up. Ive seen too many bugs in shit like Windows and other apps to waste upgrading to next newest every 8 months.
