So I recently picked up an ipad 2 but I swear the safari browser it comes with sucks balls. I am sitting 10 feet away from an access point and it seems like half the time the browser just doesn't work. Or sometimes it'll work for awhile and then just lock up. Turning the stupid thing off and on again seems to fix it but it's getting old. Hopefully it's not just me ... are other browsers better? Damn Apple why can't I get Firefox on my ipad!

Dolphin is a popular browser for Android which was recently released for iOS. Opera Mini is another one that you could try.
It sounds like you could possibly be having a wifi issue though.

Yeah it always shows connected with full bars, that's the weird thing.
On one hand it does seem like a network problem on the surface - I can have my laptop sitting 2 feet away from the ipad, both connected to the same network, and the laptop continues to work fine when the ipad craps out. But on the ipad when it starts acting up most of the time I can switch over to the app store, etc. and that works fine so it doesn't seem like a network issue after all.
It's pissing me off that's all I know!

Use iCab, it's pretty sweet. Allows easy tabbing and has a great download manager.
