Is cheap vodka just as good?

I was just having this conversation with someone today. I drink Ketel one because they have those cool commercials with guys in tuxedos. Seriously though I like Ketel One because it tastes good for the price, meaning it tastes just as good as Grey Goose but is slightly cheaper in my opinion. I could have bad taste though but yeah Ketel One and Grey Goose are my favorites when it come to vodka.

if you haven't tried titos then i'd say give it a chance. I've given guys who drink a lot of vodka just a few shots and they ranked it in their top couple.

and if you like dirty martinis then check out santa barbara olive company and order a bottle of their dirty martini mix. fucking insanely good....so are their pimento martini olives.

+1 FTW

The biggest difference from a cheap vodka to an expensive vodka is not the taste but the hangover the next morning. Cheap vodkas usually have a much worse hangover than a higher quality vodka.

the hangover thing is largely bullshit, people say that cheap vodka gives them hangovers because its cheap and they drink more of it.

Vodka - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

vodka is mainly water and ethanol with trace amounts of other chemicals.

you can get industrial grade ethanol mix it with water and add some flavouring and sell it as vodka.

alcohol is alcohol aka poison. hangover is caused by dehydration in the brain which is caused by excess alcohol consumption, there is nothing in "good vodka" that will make you less dehydrated and there is nothing in "bad vodka" to make you more dehydrtaed

I am doing client work for a new "low carb / high electrolyte" vodka (go ahead out meheheh) and it is really taking off. I have a case in my kitchen that has been sitting here for a month almost

I am not a drinker but my friends are and I have seen them take one sip of a mixed drink and send it back because they can taste the brand of vodka. I personally think that is ridiculous but I guess people want what they want.

I drank a few different vodkas when I use to house party, but always mixed. Recently (and FINALLY, since it was banned in my province until last month) got to try out Dan Aykroyd's Crystal Head Vodka, and could enjoy it straight over the rocks; virtually no aftertaste at all.

It was one of just a few vodkas - out of 200 competitors - to win double gold at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and Aykroyd himself has been traveling around N America to sign bottles for fans for quite some time now.

And as internet marketers, gotta give him credit for salesmanship by wrapping a (paranormal) story around his bottle design and explaining the creation process from using pure spring water from Newfoundland and wheat from the fields of Ontario - plus no additives, etc...

Anyone who enjoys a premium vodka should give this one a shot. Literally.

They sell that here in BC. Why was it banned?

can't believe nobody has mentioned stoli in this thread. Don't really drink vodka anymore (switch to gin) but it's by far IMO the best tasting (which means tasteless?) vodka out there and it's reasonably priced compared to grey goose. <-- overpriced

The LCBO didn't like that the bottle is shaped like a skull, which they said signifies death, and would otherwise be bad for young drinkers for a myriad of reasons.

Or, as the Globe & Mail put it:
"The actor’s home province had been the only jurisdiction in North America to deny him shelf space, declaring the packaging in violation of the liquor board’s social-responsibility mandate."

But, of course, a lot of people got pissed off about it and Aykroyd made a token concession by making the skull on the box slightly smaller, so they unbanned it.

How Dan Aykroyd finally got his skull vodka unbanned from the LCBO - The Globe and Mail

All I know is that the moment I take a shot of smirnoff I feel like puking cause it just rapes my stomach. While Stolis is like 3 bucks more a 26 than smirnoff and goes down smooth.

Also +1 to anyone mentioning the Polish vodka. Polaks Represent!
