I don't know, I guess just the common respect issue irks me. Even if most don't celebrate it, pretty near all 7 billion of us on this planet know that on Dec 24th Santa heads out on his sleigh, and delivers presents while yelling "Merry Christmas!". For example, I'm in a predominantly Buddhist country where Dec 25th doesn't mean anything, but yet everyone is wising me a Merry Christmas, because they have the common decency to respect other cultures and traditions. Yet, I get online and everyone from the West is wishing me a Happy Holidays. WTF?
You know, I have full respect for other cultures, traditions, beliefs, etc. I have no desire to impede on that, and start screaming that they should change their traditions because they're insensitive to my beliefs. It just irks me that the West has been forced to change their cultural norms, but yet, no other culture has changed their norms. That's just not fair.
I don't see anyone offering up to rename Ramadan, Loy Kratong, Songkran, Diwali, or anything else. So until they do, they're not allowed to bitch, and it's Merry Christmas!
