US to become "low cost" country for manufacturing?

It's inevitable, but it will take something unthinkable to happen to this country first... Scary as that sounds, it's a fact.
Or a very long crippling depression that will force people to abandon their current level of standard of living. Eventually something has to give when or if the benefits ever run out.
Maybe this is one way to get back into the driver's seat and take back our country. Low-paying jobs are better than no-paying jobs any day of the week.
Not when the Government is willing to dish out money to those who aren't making it. Christ I even had a friend recently sit on unemployment becasue he thought it too degrading to take a job that paid less than the $20 an hour he was making as a welder. He'd rather get the $300 some a week and sit on his ass. That's the way most people look at it. For what they get they can sit on their ass and make just as much if not more than they would get if they got out there and got a job.
If you eliminate the benefits, then yeah it'd work no problem. However a large portion of the population collects them so that won't work too well for law makers.
Education. And not just book smarts. It's by design though. So unless there are some new designers...
That's the real root of our problems, right there.
In other countries, and even in other times here in this country, when people go on some form of unemployment income (which is a completely flawed concept from the start considering that it is a reward for failure...) they feel SHAME. It is a serious, real, absolute SHAME that they can't feed their families themselves, and it is THE SAME THING as begging on the street for money or food.
Here it's nothing like that at all. We've allowed it to become just a lifestyle choice with no shame attached.
True story: Both of my brothers collected unemployment and even planned to do so while working the previous job... I'd hear them say stupid shit all the time like: "All I have to do is work one more month and then I'll be elligible for unemployment benefits. All I gotta do is start a fight at work and get canned... Then two whole years of sitting on the couch for me! YEEEEHAAAAWWW!"
Here's an easy solution: Since the propaoganda machine allowed us to think like this (as a nation) in the first place; it should be put to use brainwashing the masses in just the opposite direction; Installing Shame into those who would take welfare.
TV & movie ads, billboards, media mentions, Posters at every bus stop saying something like: "Accepting unemployment when you aren't having a real emergency is STEALING from your neighbors. Those caught will go to jail!" or "In Japan, honorable people KILL THEMSELVES before asking for money from their government."
SHAME them back into using it correctly. It could be done, but the fact that it isn't happening means that the powers that be don't want them to think like that for a reason.
Welfare and unemployment benefits (spending) help weaken the dollar. The government will do anything they can to weaken the dollar to help big business and keep oil prices up.
Americans are to lazy and entitled to do hard labor. They have too much welfare and "unemployment" checks to bother working for jobs they deem beneath them. There were all real estate gurus just 5 years ago, now they have to do actual work with tools? Pft, I think not.

GF bought a hot pink cake mixer the other month. Thing is sturdy, solid and stood out enough for me to wonder where the fuck it was made. Look on the bottom; Made in USA.
Anyway my point.. Cake mixers, that's the future for America.

As someone who likes to cook I can tell you there are some good US suppliers. All Clad comes to mind but they run 5 to 7 times their competitors prices which take them out of most kitchens. Also if they say made in the USA it more likely means it was assembled here, not manufactured.

Just checked and it's Kitchen Aid. Any idea if it's manufactured there instead of just assembled? Seems pretty good quality either way and was totally surprised by the made in USA label.
