...Well, maybe not to the day, but still: WE'RE GOING TO WAR, BOYS!

Iran presses ahead with dollar attack - Telegraph

...the Tehran Times noted that the Iranian oil bourse will start trading oil in currencies other than the dollar from March 20. This long-planned move is part of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s vision of economic war with the west.

For those of you not in the know; many of the past US offenses have been because those countries tried to stop trading oil for USD. (Petrodollars) -This is the ONLY reason we're going to war with Iran, and Akmedclownajhad says that the 20th of this month, 2 days from now, they'll stop using USD officially.

I doubt we are going to war with Iran over their use of Dollars, we basically cut their financial system off from ours, also they are a large player in the forging of U.S. Dollars, the less dollars they trade the less fake ones they can get into the market place

trading oil in other currencies would actually strengthen the dollar. bernanke/obama would love it if it weakened the dollar.

always remember, the media is full of shit.

I think Syria is first Turkey is closing down most of it's embassies in Syria on the 23rd of March.

I think if it weren't for Russia having a naval base in Syria the west would have liberated Syria long ago.

Smoke Crack Much?

If any large percentage of oil in the world was suddenly traded in something other than US dollars, then there would suddenly be a huge amount of US dollars back on the free market, (Left at the banks) with no one using them.

With no one using the dollars in circulation the overall worth of all dollars is lessened. That's called inflation. Iran's got a large chunk of the world's oil, so it could be pretty damn bad inflation indeed.

Of course, but it's the media who has been avoiding this subject like the plague since 1973 when Nixon created the petrodollar. It's the media that today perpetuates the lie that we're worried about Iran getting a nuke... When there's absolutely Zero evidence of that!

I'm really surprised that the telegraph let this slip. Anyone care to speculate how that happened?

Syria's gonna get it, Libya-style, make no mistake. But it's quite likely that Syria's news is going to be quieted down as much as possible because this is an election year. Meanwhile, Obomba feels like his campaign could USE a war with Iran... Saving poor israel from nuclear attack would certainly help with the old Christian US voters!

Yeah, they used oil to exchange rice?
No how did you get out past the great firewall to tell us this important news? :D

I think the issue is that by cutting them off from trade using the dollar the US expects to be able to squeeze them into submission. But if they are able to trade on another currency then the US loses it's leverage and that means war.

unfortunately this assumption looks correct, it looks like war is getting near.
over money - of course.
saving Israel? not sure about this one, the US lack of military victories in the last 40 years will send the Israelis to do what they need to do to survive.
News from Syria talk about fighting in the capital city...

I heard that iran has some kind of a defensive pact with russia, how will that affect an invasion?
As long as we can create some kind of excuse, (nuke threat imminent) Russia won't stop us... They've let us put up something like 40 Freaking military bases surrounding Iran on all possible sides so it's not like they're not aware of what's going to happen next. All they can do is try to convince Obomba to stop, but of course can't target the US directly with any sanctions or threats.

Get your sons and daughters ready. Bring on the draft!
Remember what Paul said at the Arizona Debate? He scared a lot of mommies across the nation that day. Paul WOULD WIN this thing if the war happened suddenly and it was apparent that a draft is coming... So therefore I believe Obomba's going to have to hold off the attack until November at soonest.

All due respect Luke, I am about 100 mi south of Russian border and watch Russian news all the time.

Putin ain't letting the US fuck up Syria OR Iran.

He is all on the TV talking about ramping up missile defenses against the USA and Syria a daily (scratch that, minute-by-minute) conversation on the news. Oh Russia DID ramp up defenses too BTW they got right on that shit.

I think our window of opportunity will be when Russia attacks Georgia we will think that Russia is 'occupied' with that war so we will then go into Syria. I hope we don't make that huge mistake. So would be any kind of attack on Iran, they would kick our asses.

I see the trend of Israel wanting to "go it alone" and attack Iran, I hope to hell they do so Iran can take all their pieces off the Risk gameboard.

Putin? a'int? letting?

come on... Putin wishes for Iran & Syria to empty their bunkers and need more Russian missiles and weapons, its not like he really cares for these people, its just the money.

Putin has much work to do at home, many do not approve of how he "wins" elections, and a Muslim "minority" (tens of millions) is slowly moving to remove them old Christians out of power and money in that part of the world.

Whatever currency to take the place of the dollar as the settlement currency for oil would instantly become much stronger. This could be seriously bad for the USD as the oil factor was one of the last two only factors preventing total collapse. The other being the US army beating everyone down who disagrees. If countries no longer need the USD for oil trading, the demand for it will fall quite significantly leading to falls in exchange rate, defacto making it much more expensive for the American taxpayer. I imagine China is also not too happy about this, since they would also have to lower their currency further to maintain purchaing power parity with the US.
