He's pretty much said repeatedly that the reason he's remained a republican is so he can be on the ballot in every state and so he can be in the debates. Until our media is rearranged a little better so that more people are getting their news outside of the MSM, I don't think a third party is a real possibility. If RP runs 3rd party this time around it would definitely be interesting, but they'll still keep him out of the debates, so most people won't see him as a real candidate.

My wife and I will be at the MN State Convention on May 18th and 19th to help elect the final 13 National Delegates from MN.

We will also be working to nominate the Ron Paul endorsed candidate Kurt Bills for U.S. Senate at the state convention. The establishment people are pushing another guy, but the delegates decide who gets the official GOP nomination with a vote.

Hopefully the Ron Paul supporters can take over some more Republican Party positions there too.
 
I want to revive this thread because of the huge jump in importance we've just confirmed about Delegates...

Ben Swann has dug up a precident tonight that shows how ROMNEY HIMSELF, JUST 4 YEARS AGO, was ruled in favor of for UN-BINDING Delegates from their state... !!!

This is an AWESOME turn of events for us folks... It means that we can just TOTALLY ignore the straw polls 100% and focus on our Delegates!

So DELEGATES ARE NOW THE ENTIRE FOCUS of the Paul campaign. 100%. Nothing else helps us at all.

So if ->YOU<- have not signed up as a delegate yet, and your state isn't done choosing delegates, then for the sake of liberty, NOW IS THE TIME for you to tell Turbo your location and she'll help you become one asap!

What does being a delegate require us people do? I would love to sign up, but I barely have enough time to read threads on here.

Usually it's a few meetings (in person) in your county; coordinate voting strategies with your local Paul base... A few hours a few times, perhaps a whole day when your state holds its' caucus.

So that's the list of people who will be watching the RNC from home. Good luck and keep an eye out for Charlie, I heard he gets around ;)
 
We had a pretty smooth state convention with great results. There was about 2200 delegate there voting and I think just over half were Ron Paul supporters.

Ron Paul was actually there giving speeches, shaking hands, and posing for pictures. Mitt Romney sent a video of his wife to address the delegates. Michele Bachmann was not there even though she was running for National Delegate and the convention was held in her district.

Romney's Conservative Unity Slate was a huge failure. Just before the delegate speeches were about to start they passed out a "Convention Chaos Slate" listing almost everyone that was not on the "Conservative Unity Slate". It said not to vote for anyone on the list because the people on it want to embarrass MN Republicans, create chaos in Tampa, and help re-elect Obama. They kinda shot themselves in the foot with it because when the delegates went up for their speeches, some on the "Chaos Slate" were innocent little old ladies and not even Paul supporters. One of the names was even on the "Conservative Unity Slate" at the MN CD3 convention.

Ron Paul supporters won 12 out of 13 National Delegate spots on the first ballot. 50% vote was required for a spot. There was supposed to be a second ballot between the 13th Paul supporter and Michele Bachmann, we had the numbers to win it, but the Paul campaign decided to cede the last spot to Bachmann as a nice gesture to the non-Paul MN GOP leaders since we need to work with them in the future for other state campaigns. All 13 alternate spots were won by Paul supporters on the first ballot.

We were able to nominate the Ron Paul endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Kurt Bills on a second ballot over two establishment guys. 60% was required for this nomination. He had 53% on the first ballot. One of his opponents passed out a "negative" flyer between the two ballots that basically said Kurt Bills = Ron Paul. After that "negative" flyer went out, Kurt Bills received 64% on the second ballot winning the GOP nomination.

We were able to get "end the fed" added to the official MN GOP platform and blocked a motion to add "traditional" before every mention of "marriage" in the MN GOP platform.

The Conservative Unity Slate people had big red no and green yes posters that they were holding up to influence votes at the beginning, but we were able to get them removed for breaking a rule requiring all signs to have the name and address of the person sponsoring it.

The MN GOP Chair Pat Shortridge went up to the microphone and held up the "chaos slate" calling it offensive and said that this type of stuff with in the party needs to stop.

The MN Republican National Committeeman Jeff Johnson later stepped up and gave a speech to both sides towards the end of the convention. He told the Ron Paul people not to disappear like the older people think will happen and told the Paul haters... "Get over it... If we don’t grow, we die as a party".

The convention in Louisiana was held today. It was known that RP supporters had a 2/3 majority, so a few hours before the convention, the Central Committee added 16 pages of new rules that were intended to lock out RP people from doing anything meaningful.

About 2 minutes into the convention, the chair ignored multiple calls for inquiry, so the delegates voted to remove the chairman, and replaced him with the man in the video below. The old chair continued to talk into the microphone, but most of the delegates stood up, turned their chairs around and sat back down. They had their own microphones, and as the new chair began to speak, the old one called the cops to have him removed for 'entering and refusing to leave'.

As the cops tried to drag him out, they dislocated his hip :

Prior to that incident, the chair asked for the Rules Committee chair to read something, and 2 guys stood up. One was the elected RC chair, and the other was the appointed one. Do you have any info yet on delegate counts?
 
They are going to have to take it to the RNC. There was a 'majority convention' and a 'minority convention' happening in the same time in the same room. The 'minority' is those who didn't turn their chairs around while the appointed chair was still talking.

The majority has selected 27/46 RP delegates, the minority had previously claimed that RP would be guaranteed 17/46, and they did select some delegates, but left 13 vacant seats to be appointed at a later date.

27 delegates would mean a majority, and that RP has won Louisiana. They gave santorum and romney 10 and 6 delegates, which actually helps the case for the 'majority' convention to be recognized- the head of the romney campaign in LA has said he supports the delegation selected at the 'majority' convention. Anyone attaching themselves to the minority convention will not look good politically, particularly their governor Jindal.

I'm starting to see the words "Civil" and "War" being put together more and more on the Daily Paul today, and regular readers there know that it's a site overflowing with Optimists; not at all the type looking for a fight.
