Bad Ass move by Microsoft: Android on{x}

Tasker for Android - I've used this a few times, it's the same idea $6. Will look into this one as well. I mostly use my phone to make calls, but every once in awhile, I'll try and rice it out as much as possible for shits and giggles.

This kind of tech is definitely going to get big. Getting the phone to interact with other things is where its at though, not getting it to do phone stuff.

Tying it up with a home control system for example.

As to the whole MS releasing something for android, it explains pretty clearly that its just a mass beta test for something on windows phone, with a bit of good PR thrown in if they are lucky.

It's interesting that the coding will be available.

I'm already imagining the slightly shady stuff people could build into their "recipes"...

Lol, yeah that's a good point. What I am getting at though, is that Microsoft isn't retarded. There is a reason that the name sucks and the whole thing seems to be geared toward a nerdy demographic and the code is available for tinkering... this 'launch' is a precursor to what they are really aiming for... Which will be a much more refined and complete product.

Once every nerd on the planet codes their own stuff, shares it on their 'community' forums and whatnot... Microsoft will just take all of it... throw away the shit, keep the good stuff and release it packaged as something that appeals to the masses.

In my opinion, a brilliant marketing strategy, nothing like hiring millions of very intelligent people to do your work for free. Very clever.

Or how about having the app play music when you are Running. But then you still having to tell the app you are running, which takes the same effort as opening the music app.

Completely retarded. How the fuck do people even get funding for this shit.

It automatically knows when you are running.

Let me rephrase to something like:

Money is made when you solve someone's problem.

The bigger the problem, the more money you make.

Also, a lot of that product is doomed to fail and is only a marketing trick. Or it will remain that way for the near future.

Hint: What's the biggest problem with location enabled apps?

I don't think a problem needs to be present. There are tons of successful products out there that don't address any problems, simply makes life easier.

Ex. A "problem" would be if you couldn't cook you food. "Make life easier" would just cook your food faster = microwave.

Same with things like heated seats, all-in-1 remote controls, electric toothbrushes etc. etc.

So this thing will totally catch on, and if they charge for apps, people will buy them to make their lives easier. I macro the shit out of every video game I play so I don't have to do all the commands manually, this will be the same except for real life LOL.

making things easier(less time consuming) is solving a problem IMO. It's just one of the many problems you could solve. It's a problem with efficiency.

i.e. you couldn't make popcorn/heat stuff so qucikly before microwave ovens, that is a problem(wasting/not having time is). You could always deduct things to problems. Or at least that's how I work. Probably the engineering degree speaking.

But yeah, probably semantics, and isn't worthy for a long, worthless debate, lol.

Money is made when you make people's lives easier.

The phone should detect your speed, which will be able to tell if you're sitting/walking/running/driving.

it needs to detect when I'm masturbating so it can automate me sending messages to local cum dumpsters on POF

It automatically knows when you are running.

It can't automatically know when you are running. It can only know when you are going a certain speed. So all I need to do is go between 4-6 MPH and suddenly my phone starts playing my running sound track. I could be on a bike, I could be on a golf cart, anything that would recreate the speed in the gps would trigger it.

There are millions of things that trigger the same event as going a pre measured distance at a speed range. This is why every running app on the market makes you actually press a start/stop button before you run.

Couldn't GPS speed be combined with accelerometer data to tell the difference between running and riding in a golf cart?

I don't know if the app works this way for sure or not.

The best application for this would be if you could use it to remotely detonate a small shaped charge to blow the hands off people who steal your phone.

Although I can see that running into legal problems :(
