Disaster Preparedness: Are you ready?

^^^^ WTF??

The claws, I admitted had no real use....but I included it for fun. And what do you find so funny about camouflage?

The problem with guns is that like Katrina, the first thing they want to do is go around and grab all the guns. They WILL be doing that and if you don't produce the ones registered to you then you are in custody (if you are not already anyway).
They will also pop gun safes etc no problem.

So I am thinking of having a few unregistered guns (handgun and rifle).

Thoughts on obtaining, legalities of an unlicensed handgun ?

Guns didn't start being required to have serial numbers and be registered with the Government until the Gun Control Act Of 1968 was passed. Now, manufacturers may have had serial numbers prior to this for internal records, but it wasn't also in the Government's database.

Buy some older guns and you don't have to worry about them showing up in a database. If well maintained, they should work quite effectively. Not much has really changed with firearm design since the 60's with the more popular models anyway.

So I'm going to guess by the lack of replies from all of you who proclaim preparedness, other than those with guns buried in the hills, few of you do have a dual scenario plan. When your "go bags" are buried under the rubble of your home you're going to be just as fucked as the next guy in your neighbourhood

This is why this weekend I put together a bag in my car, my wife's car, and in the garage which is separate from my house.

I am a licensed amateur radio operator and have multiple radios in multiple vehicles with battery chargers using solar power for communicating with my family and others.

Same thing here, bags in the car. It's not a bad idea not only for disasters but for daily issues too.

hmm, the fact you had the ugly fucking mask on was just too much for me brah.

Like I said, I wore it on Halloween once taking my kids around the neighborhood. I was pointing out, thats when I realized how good it was for camouflage, even in urban areas.

I would wrap my self around brick walls with vines on them...and people would walk right by me...I would lay on the grass, same thing. The kids had so much fun, that later...we played hide and seek with it in the backyard and it was a blast.

I started preparring about 5 years ago... amazing what you can stockpile a little at a time. I went about it in a few phases. Short term, long term, tools, skills.

Short Term:
If you need to grab something and run, backpack for each member of the family ready to go by the front door. Should last 24-48 hours, customized for what each person needs. Basic survival things in all cars.

Long Term:
Red wheat is the best thing you can get. It lasts 30 years and has most everything you need to survive. You'll need a hand crank wheat grinder. plus it's cheap. I also have rice, beens, white wheat, dried milk, sugar, salt, yeast, etc.... also built a roll down shelf for canned food. when you buy more corn, put it at the back so you always eat the oldest food first. Probably have enough food to survive for 9 months right now. The key is learn how to use it before you are forced into it.

Tools:
normal stuff like water filter, 55 gallon poly drums filled with water that i rotate every year, axe, saw, knives, batteries, water filters, guns, ammo, fishing supplies, seeds, tents, sleeping bags, hammer, nails, firewood, dirtbike, gas, etc..

Skills:
Do you know how to fish? gut an animal? find water? build a shelter? Make bread?

To Do:
Medical supplies, more seeds, generator

The key is to do a little at a time and then it's not a financial burden. I gotta tell you though, it is PIECE OF MIND to be preparred. My ultimate goal if possible if things got really bad is to load up the diesel and trailer with as much as possible and drive as far north as possible. Canada is the place to go to survive. fuel, food, unlimited natural resources.

BTW- I always laugh at people who think guns will solve their problems in an emergency... I'm not planning on shooting hungry people

Luckily i live in a place (Utah) where a lot of people are preparred. My neighborhood would most likely combine supplies and survive together.

Anyone who would burry their shit within a few feet of the structure of buildings deserve to lose their shit. Furthermore, people shouldnt live house to house but should live in more rural area's or work on getting a vacation home that's "out in the woods" like what I got. If I had to start over, I'd buy a forest type home, then an urban city home (not the other way around).

Read that story by the guy who lived through Argentina's collapse. People in the country were getting raped and murdered because they were isolated and vulnerable. Even though they were armed the bad guys would sneak up on them. He says he was glad he lived in a block of flats in the city where only the front of the building was accessible. He and his neighbors fortifide it and could fight off even a big mob tried to get in.

That was a good read, its a reminder that there are slower, grey level collapses where you still have to function in a society and go to work. You can't just walk around with rifles and mojitos.

I think I'd much rather be an in isolated situation in a more rural forest type area as opposed to a major city. 1:4 Americans have guns according to some poll I read, meaning on one street 1:4 homes will have a gun. With this said, everyone would be suspect imo. As for just living out in the forest, having shit like fox holes, boarding up your windows so no one could look in - or possibly setting up an outside/underground home and using your primary home merely as storage waiting for fuckers coming to "look in" as you stated above then open fire.... I can assure you, that if you prep your odds of living isolated will be much much more easier than living in a metropolitan type situation (3 days without water or food, people will rape/kill/stab your ass for what they need). In the forest, less people = simple math.

LoL at going to work in a collapse. If shit got bad, ill just live off the land and tell everyone to eat a bag of dicks. And yes ill walk around strapped, whether concealed or not (depending on the level of the collapse).

..............Theres gotta be smarter people on here, wtf?

Yeah, well not everyone lives in an area that is suitable to "live off the land", nor does an average city dweller have the knowledge or tools. And if you walk around "strapped", in the beginning or low level collapse like he had...you'd get shot by the police or put in jail. Doesn't matter anyway, he gave advice for the average person. 300 million people can't "live off the land". All the animals in the forrest would be dead in a couple of weeks, literally.
