New Obama policy will spare some from deportation



Lots of first generation irish/polish/etc immigrants never learned to speak english. They didn't "assimilate" either. They stayed in their own tight knit communities perpetuating their own culture in many ways. America assimilated them. (Look at our cusine, almost all "american" cusine isn't really american at all.) As for the language issue once you get a generation in it's no longer a problem.

We're supposed to be a melting pot.

You got any numbers on irish/polish incarceration rates around the time that we were getting a huge influx of them? Crime comes with a lower economic class, not from being Latino. I'd think such a statement would be really obvious. The only reason they didn't "milk freebies" was because there were none then. A problem you should take up with the gubberment, not mexicans. Also, you're*.
 
The USA is a melting pot for LEGAL immigrants, no other race has millions of people here illegally. Arizona gets it, they passed a law no more Mexican anchor babies, 6 other states are going to pass the same law. Get it yet?? BTW this last year was a first, more Mexicans going back to Mexico than illegally crossing the border because of the housing crash, its a start!!

I'd jump the border if I were them, too. Our immigration policy is really stupid. A green card lottery? No cares about merit or anything like that - a fucking lottery. We should just open up the borders.

The only reason they were "legal" is because we just let everyone in back then, a policy I think we should go back to.
