1. Its ugly and takes 20 clicks to buy/renew a domain name

No it doesn't.

2. They keep on upselling you dumb shit that only Noobs need

I have to laugh at internet marketers complaining about upsells.

3. They supported SOPA

Yes, and that was shitty, but they did back out of that decision after the public outrage it caused.

4. That chick they hired is not hot (and not showing tits)

Danica isn't hot? You're a picky motherfucker.

5. their expensive compared to namecheap or Internet.bs

No they're not. I consistently get better pricing than at either of those companies. I know free WHOIS protection for the first year and cheaper WHOIS thereafter is a big draw for a lot of you sketchy bastards but I don't usually care about it so it's not a big selling point for me. GoDaddy will give you free WHOIS too for the first year if you ask for it.

6. Their interface is confusing as FUCK

I think their domain/DNS/MX management interface is excellent. I hear this complaint all the time but I think it's just a matter of what you're used to. I've never had a problem with their interface. I hear their hosting interface sucks balls, but I would never host with them so I have no idea what it's like.

I had a friend recommend Dynadot earlier today, so I might check them out.

As far as I know, neither Namecheap nor Internet.bs have phone support. I'm going to guess their live chat is all done out of India or some other 3rd world shithole by people that barely speak English. I don't deal with registrars that I can't get on the phone 24/7. I know that if I call GoDaddy I am going to be speaking to an English first language speaker sat in Scottsdale Arizona. That's the piece of mind I expect from someone handling some of my most precious web assets.

If you own over 50+ domains, you can apply for a discount code that lasts for ever on Namecheap. its "GoldDeal". I forget the % but its like 10-20% or something. All you have to do is go into the Live Chat or email them and say you have over 50 domains and they will enable the code on your account.

That's good to know.

We all know godaddy sucks but most of us stay with them for the crappy auctions and the godaddy girls which arent really that cute... but yeah namecheap ftw. only auction domains are with godaddy and even those cost you an arm and leg

GoDaddy support is 100x Namecheap support. Namecheap is cheap, but their support is shit.

When I have a problem with my domain names, I don't mind that I paid $2 more per domain, if I can get someone on the phone like you can at GoDaddy.

Godaddy Registration is TDNAM. Renewal is get the Auth Codes and get off.

THIS is the answer :)

And also InternetBS is both cheaper AND gives you FREE WHOIS!

What nonsense is that exactly? All I hear is how bad GoDaddy is and yet they consistently have top notch customer support and the lowest prices.

Same experience for me. Everyone does nothing but complain about how horrible GoDaddy is. I think it's become cool to hate GD, but frankly I don't see much of a problem. Yeah they upsell the living fuck out of you but it takes 2 seconds to say no. As far as their services are concerned, I've never had a problem.

You'd think with the number of customers they have that the Go Daddy support would be lousy, but whenever I've sent a Tweet to them I've got a direct response within 20 minutes. There's always the phone support as well, but never had to use that. Comparing this to Google, didn't Larry Page say that the whole idea of customer support was ridiculous lol. Asshole.

Whois aside, you can almost always find a GoDaddy coupon that makes them cheaper than the competition. I bought two .com domains today for $4.95 each plus .18 cents ICANN fee for example. I renewed some domains the other day for $7.95 plus ICANN fee. The best advertised price InternetBS offers is $8.49 if you're a "domainer" with 2000+ domains with them. Otherwise you pay $8.99 normally.

Also, this: GoDaddy Hosting Review | Off-White Hat

Granted that was about a terrible experience I had with their hosting, but still. GoDaddy is GoDaddy.

I know GoDaddy hosting is generally considered crap, but I really don't know why anyone would host with a domain registrar.

Rvw cpy plz...u got da skype.

My domain penis is small. I've only got mid xxx domains. I use most of the registrars listed so far in this thread. I don't have a problem with ui, upsells, customer support with any of them. I know the interface quirks to each and it is not an issue.

Question:
What happens in your world where you need to talk on the phone with someone about your domains?

Admittedly I'm low volume but out of a few hundred domains I chat or email like 4 times a year total. I can buy, renew, transfer, manage dns etc. without involving a human. If I have to communicate with customer service something has gone wrong. I agree support is important. But it sounds like some of you need a lot to the point that no phone is a deal killer. Why?

I guess my question is what specifically goes wrong with the registrar you are using that needs so much inter-reaction with a human?

I don't care about domain phone support. No one wants to discuss their shameful domains with a real live person.

i think im gonna transfer all my shit to my namecheap account

Don't that would be a mistake my WF friend.
Let's look at it this way..
Consider the cost in time it would take for the following:

Transferring sites, files, databases x(numsites).
Installing, activating and adjusting hosting settings on new host.
Creating email accounts x(numsites).
Troubleshoot all installs.

Now for me I have like 20 some odd sites. This would be a huge bitch for me to move all that and make sure there are no errors and setting up my emails and all that who-ha.

I f I figure that I could have found a new, super hot niche or built a whole new site or made a video or banged my wife of whatever else I could have been doing at that time instead of saving $42.44 in renewal fees. I ask myself is all this work and time worth saving ..x amount of dollars?

Not to mention namecheap fuckin sucks but .. that is not my main argument.

It's late and I'm feeling no pain but are you confusing the task of changing hosts with simply transferring domains to another registrar?

yeah who the fuk cares about "support", do you really need domain support? N00bs... I'm transfering all my shit to namecheap when I get to the office tomorrow

i just find it ironic that go-daddy has a laughable website. i mean, its not like they're selling ostrich burgers, they're selling websites on a shitty website. hire a piece of ass? great. how bout making your website less of a fucking mess so people know where to go to get done what they need to get done? pure rocket science.
