Do you ever get drug flashbacks?

I used to think it was pretty much a myth during my erowid days (I would research a crapload about drugs before using them and made sure they were more or less safe).

Anyway, I did shrooms several months ago and it was a really intense and negative trip. In fact that was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had in my life. Lately, I've been getting flashbacks of the trip, usually when I'm about to sleep or in deep sleep. I wake up pretty suddenly and see the morphing/triangle visuals. It's not bad or good, it just is what it is. The experiences usually subside within 30-60 seconds and it's only happened a couple times.

Have you guys had any hallucinogenic drug flashbacks?

Also ever since I pretty much broke my ego on shrooms and had to rebuild myself 1 block at a time, I have become absolutely 100% drug intolerant. I simply cannot do shit at all except for low amounts of alcohol and nicotine. Weed is completely out of the question, which kind of sucks because I used to really enjoy the closed eye visuals and stories I would get off it. Just 1 hit is enough to make me feel like I'm going to lose my mind, therefore I haven't done it in monthssss and to be quite frank, I haven't had a toke session in years anyway so my tolerance level is small to begin with.

Actually, and I'm being 100% serious here, the last two times I smoked weed, I got a very scary feeling in myself where I wanted to kill everyone I was hanging out with. I literally felt like going to the kitchen, getting a knife and chopping them to bits. It was so strong that I had to go outside, I felt like someone was trying to control my brain and make me kill. I stayed out and did a little yoga breathing until I calmed down. Wow that was scary. This scared me so much that I have completely avoided ever doing that again. I *NEVER* ever want to feel that again. I'm usually a pretty peaceful person (I do have deep seated anger issues, not nothing I can't handle and definitely nothing that would make me homicidal).

I just can't do any drugs at all. I took two amp energy drinks while I was working on the website yesterday and after a while I felt like I was having a very strong come up of something unpleasant. It actually felt really bad so I pretty much put on my gym clothes and sprinted/walked around my neighborhood until my nervous system calmed down. Physical exercise is the only thing that grounds me to be honest.

Phew, had to get that off my chest.

You have to be in nature with mushrooms. Don't be the idiot that takes them before going out partying.

When I was 19 I ate an 1/8 before work at an answering service where I worked the night shift and it was fucking miserable.

Every year I go camping with some friends(one has a phd) and we trip and it's great for reflecting on life.

When I was a kid we juiced san pedro cactus and evaporated off most of the water to make concentrate and it was a lot of fun. One summer with my hippy uncle we picked peyote south of laredo texas in mexico and I had an out of body experience. When I was 19-21 I did a lot of stupid shit, ate lot of E, which felt kinda like peyote on speed.

That has been my experience with such things.

I haven't even been smoking herb very much lately. I ran out and didn't buy any for 3 days, then since I've had it I've only smoked off my 1 hitter once in the morning and once in the afternoon and haven't really felt like it when I do, just like to burn one before cooking dinner.

I just had an MRI of my head(troubleshooting trigeminal neuralgia) and I was thinking how fucked it would be on mushrooms the whole time. It's like being abducted by aliens.

Yeah, I think my biggest mistake was taking it with someone I deep down did not like or trust at all (your subconscious is always right) and it was at night and we started in a night club. That was very, very stupid of me. I had done them before and just thought it was going to be a nice mood relaxer...but I had taken more than an 1/8th and that was just too much. The come up alone completely shifted me from

normal

norma..whoa..wait I'm feeling something

ooooh fuck, i am coming up WAY too fast

got to get the fuck out of here before I freak out

[rest of the nightmare of a horrible fucking experience]

Amateur.

The play here is to take the ones that haven't killed anybody yet but are relatively unknown.

Substance 42 FTW!!!

There was your problem. The only time I ever had a bad trip was when I was in an environment that I wasn't completely comfortable in. I do have permanent tracer syndrome from all the acid I took back in high school.

Craziest night of my life was a Korn and Rob Zombie concert on some seriously potent acid. Never forget walking up the the stadium as the drugs are kicking in and I could hear the bass rumbling and the biggest damn lightning bolt strikes in the back drop of the arena...Some straight up "Hangover" moments...sitting in Waffle House blazing and a group of cops comes and sits right fucking behind us...going the wrong way down the freeway laughing our asses off. Hotel had some seventies era green shag carpet and that shit was alive I tell you. Was deaf for about a week and my stomach hurt for even longer from laughing so hard.. Damn, I'm lucky to have made it through that dumb ass night.

Any bad trip on psychedelics is a sign of a psychological problem that you need to resolve. Even with weed (which is also psychedelic), ever wonder why soo many people would rather get drunk and kill their brain cells then smoke up and relax? They say they don't like it, it makes them feel paranoid. This is exactly why you need to do it more and investigate what is going on.

At first when you do shrooms/acid you are like a small light bulb that just got connected to a nuclear power station, you cannot take it. But once you are completely open, calm, have no expectations and no resistance, you will wonder how is it possible to have a bad trip.

EDIT: I've never had flashbacks, I've had bad trips tho.

Have you ever had a bad trip dude? It will make you wish you were never born. I can't even begin to describe how horrible that was. And yeah, at its crescendo, I realized I have some very deep desires (I just want to be rich and successful) and that I was on the wrong path. It was very...enlightening to say the least. I got rid of ALL my friends except for 4.

As for weed, like I said, I used to really enjoy it because it gave me the most awesome visuals but these days it makes me feel like a monster.

I've had some really bad trips. Perpetuating hell that is never-ending and is escalating in its intensity and amount of sufferings. I've puked a few times.

However all my bad trips were caused by me and my fear of death, i.e. my psychological glitches. Under heavy dose, you actually experience an ego death. This can be painless, if done correctly.

Also all bad trips started out as good trips that gave incredible insights. The type of insights that completely changed everything. So although incredibly tough, I never regretted. They have changed my life, rid my mind of many limitations.

Right now, although mind-body wants to be rich and successful and I am well on the way to being there, something realizes the futility and impermanence of such tendencies. Chasing impermanent, you can never be satisfied. You can never feel secure enough. Just look at banksters, they have trillions, still not enough. They are some of the most miserable folks out there.

Our bodies just get addicted to dopamine that we get off making money, and we need to make more and more money to get the same dopamine effect. Not that being rich and successful is bad. Look at Steve Jobs for example.

You cannot become successful, you can only be successful.

I am just typing random thoughts that come to my mind, without any effort of being organized or staying on topic. lol

Heh, ego death...it felt like I was right on the verge of that. I really did not know who I was for a very long time, all I knew was what I wanted. I wanted to be away from my fake friends that were secretly trying to sabotage my efforts to better my life.

I know it sounds superficial to think of financial success as such a crucial part of my personality and mental wellbeing...but it is. I grew up poor, I have massive debts from the stupid, STUPID shit I've done growing up and quite frankly, money = freedom. Nothing in life is better than freedom. I don't need a lot personally, just enough to do what I want when I want it and to travel.

To be completely honest though, you're right..I don't regret having that trip. In fact I think I needed it...I just wish I didn't get such a resounding mental ass kicking.
