Wow, what a powerful vision. I've been keeping a dream diary in an effort to understand myself more deeply before I go on a certain path. I had a dream that was about this group of creatures that had "primitive" feel to them (ok, I'll just come out and say that they were trolls that looked exactly like the Warcraft 3 ones). Anyway, they were at war with something and had a perfect strategy down, but there was one particular troll that was stupider and weaker than all the others. Due to this weakness, when the time to execute the attack came, every single member died except for the idiot.
Centuries later in the dream, I was an explorer that heard rumors that there was a particular key which I needed that was in a cave that belonged to a long dead race of people. I went down there and it was filthy. It was there that I found the last living troll constructing of shrines out of rocks, etc... For his crimes that lead to the downfall of his people, he was cursed to hear the voices of his dead comrades telling him how disappointed they were in him for the rest of his life.
Now it sounds a bit comical and it certainly had a cartoonish feel to it...I think my subconscious did that intentionally but the message was clear enough and the sorrow I felt looking at that poor creature as it constantly lamented what a fool it was was very real. I think our weakness makes us human. We have a mental picture of the person we want to ideally be but due to our personality flaws, not many of us actually realize all of our goals. Sometimes, out flaws can be so debilitating that they lead us to squalor and personal ruin. And that's okay. Perhaps life is sometimes about being there for the journey and realizing these things. Who knows? I can't say, but I feel like those kinds of experiences are integral to the human reality in some way. Without them, our knowledge and understanding of ourselves and reality would be incomplete. That's just my opinion.
I saw the key and grabbed it from the troll..I was about to leave but I felt the urge to be with this creature for a while and comfort it before leaving. The dream began to slowly end.
I woke up wondering if I too would one day be lying in a dark place somewhere, wishing I had not been such a fool.
