Who here is a prepper?

Dude, go to a freaking hospital. You could lose your damn hand to something like gangrene if you aren't completely, utterly sterilized in everything you touch today.

Sheesh. It's one thing to be prepared, and totally another to turn down safe practices that usually keep people alive just so you can practice being prepared...

LoL commmooooon guuuuy. Mind y0 business

But this being aside, I used bactene + alcohol, sterile gloves, sterile catgut, sterile forcepts. I understand completely with a hospital being down the street. If for example I got bit by a rattlesnake I wouldn't be using my medical kit for my "snake bite kit" nor would I use my blood clotting spray given I got shot after pulling a bullet out. But a flesh wound, ain't all that bad. Plus I'm not a pussy :-p

I'm not sure if I have an opinion about Dresden stitching himself up and cauterizing his own wounds with black power like Stallone in Rambo III, but I do have an opinion about hospitals.

They are dirty, dirty places, filled with things that can kill you, and unless you have a situation that you absolutely cannot handle on your own, you are probably better off staying away from them.

EDIT: it's supposed to read "cauterizing his own wounds with black powder", but I made a funny typo, so I'm leaving it in.

Giggeddy. Never heard of the black powder thing, although I have alot of it - I'll read up on more of its uses.

I know , and talk to MANY preppers in my area. I've read plenty of stories from people like the Bosnian survivor , FerFal, and others out there.

It's always a good idea to be prepared for a little bit of everything. I've been able to stock up on a little of everything, food, ammo, guns and even alcohol (I don't drink). I've been able to barter SEO & Internet services for preps too, I did SEO work for vineyard and managed to get 5 or 6 cases of wine from them for my stash.

Stocking up on alcohol is something I haven't really considered but its a great fucking idea. This would go in the top 5 must have items for bartering. The harder things get the more people turn to alcohol and drugs.

As to the stocking up for various situations I think thats probably key. When you watch those doomsday preppers they are usually headcases with a strong fear of one particular disaster or another. I have no idea what could possibly go wrong at any given point, so its best to be flexible and be able to roll with the punches.

So I bought a portable bbq today for when I go to the river, I was putting it together and fucking sliced my finger pretty bad. In my medical supplies I did a temp stich, and used this molleskin. If any of you are stockpiling, fucking order molleskin! This shits fucking rad, strong, works well. Its on my hand right now, its been holding up like a bandaid on steroids.

Your cut reminded me about antibiotics. This reminded me of here:
What is the shelf life of antibiotics? - Survivalist Forum

Sounds like it'd be a pain to keep in stock.. but beyond life saving if you had it when it was needed.

(gotta go to youtube to play - skip to 3min to see list - i find myself not being able to watch her since she's wearing sunglasses. Weird.)

A few cases of cheap ass whiskey could turn into gold in one of those situations. People get their drink on during rough times. SHTF situation I bet they'd kill to drink it away.

Earthquakes tornadoes hurricanes floods.

But WW3? Huge armies will be on the move, wmd would be used heavy. Talking about huge powers trying to grab spoils as the world burns.

Any survivalist is kidding themselves that you could survive a Nuclear War (wmd).

Katrina situation, sure............ WW3 ........... Delusion
