What are the things you wished you did back when you first created your website?

Im talking about integrating 3rd party newsletter services (i.e. the ones that make you opt in your users again when you import them), requiring specific information on registration, basically anything that would be too difficult to implement now that you're site is a few years in.

SEO strategies would be appreciated too
 


Dunno if this is what you mean, but I wish I would have organized my websites SEO better. I should have made a sort of business plan, stating exactly which keywords to target for each page. Now I have a shitty system, I'm trying to rank for like 3 terms on one page that I didn't even plan on trying for. I'm doing alright in the SERPS, but had I been more organized I know i'd be MUCH better off. And I also wasted a lot of backlink anchor text this way
 
Not have made a shitty forum, put AdSense on it, and then told everyone to click it :P I thought it was great at the start, got $150 in a month then got banned. I didn't care at all until I wanted to actually get into this and use adsense.
 
Deciding on incoming anchor text beforehand. I've switched it up so many times during submission/spamming it's not even funny. The URL of course is mostly what matters, but I'd be better off if I had the <A> text set up accordingly.

Yeah, I'm in the exact same boat and it sucks.
