My guess is this update is not going to effect EMD.com domains.
But more domains with dashes in them and also other emd domains that are not .com's
anyone's thoughts on this?

I have two sites on domains like mykeyword1keyword2.com that got hit. One is a very high quality site. The other probably deserved to be penalized.
I also have numerous other sites on actual EMDs. Some disappeared, while others appear unaffected. All of these are quality sites, but they don't have much text on the pages. Most of my sites are based on non-text content. There is no way to increase the amount of content on these pages without writing a bunch of irrelevant bullshit no one would read.
I don't see any patterns so far in which sites were affected. Most of my affected sites have at least one corresponding unaffected site with similar characteristics.

I read that at first too - but looking at it again, he only specifies how many US SERPs have been affected, he doesn't say it's just the US.
P.S. that hyphenated emd info was a 1 pager, 500 words, but so were my other emds.

All of my long tails just shot up to page #1 for almost every single one of them on my one authority site. Rankings surged like 30-40 spots as well.
I don't think owning a ton of EMD's today is a viable business, unless it's high traffic and you can manage it..

I'm seeing some movements among my EMDs but still nothing drastic compared to usual. Some are slightly up, some slightly down, and one crappy single-page EMD disappeared. (If only I had taken Peder's advice on that one...) The good news is that one of my competitor's EMDs tanked!

I have an EMD, rather newish within the last 6 months that has hardly no content on it at all ( 3 pages, avg content per page is less then 100 words each ) and nothing but some relevant blog comment postings ( manual, not AA ) and I hit #1 ( had been #7 ) from the last update that just updated a few weeks ago.
I check that same EMD today and its still #1.
My thoughts are, this did hit some EMD's.. but only EMD's that fell into a certain filter. I have low content/thin content and my EMD is new, and I only used blog comments to rank it and most of my anchors were either:

I have an EMD, rather newish within the last 6 months that has hardly no content on it at all ( 3 pages, avg content per page is less then 100 words each ) and nothing but some relevant blog comment postings ( manual, not AA ) and I hit #1 ( had been #7 ) from the last update that just updated a few weeks ago.
I check that same EMD today and its still #1.
My thoughts are, this did hit some EMD's.. but only EMD's that fell into a certain filter. I have low content/thin content and my EMD is new, and I only used blog comments to rank it and most of my anchors were either:
1. The main KW I was going for
2. RAW URL
