I think this is where you are most mistaken. The forefathers created the mechanism, but the lobbyists removed it. Plain and simple.
While it is true that the most "right" ideas must be discovered followed to make an anarchist colony successful, I do not presume that my own ideas are the most "right." -Rather, I presume that a GROUP of dedicated anarchists can come together and design such a community that they all agree on between each other is right... And THEN they go and make it happen.

The system just won't alllow it. It takes decades of fighting just to see an inch of progress, and while you're fighting for it you've lost miles as new bills are introduced and passed in the other direction.

Downtown Detroit is safe, it's just the neighborhoods that nobody goes to that nobody should go to.

On top of the Unions doing their thing. There are factions of Detroit that have no desire to allow outsiders in. Downtown is safe, and significant changes are happening that could help revive the entire city, specifically Dan Gilbert's push to turn Woodward Ave. into something he likes to call Webward Ave. But there are other areas of the city where the controlling elements are perfectly happy to continue life as it currently is and has been since the "white flight" started before the riots in the 60's. And it continues today because most people with any affluence, regardless of color or creed, are taking shelter in the suburbs.
