Sarcasm vs IQ

Gosta axe this question, homies. I have this incontrollable urge to act like Statler and Waldorf, I probably got it from my father, I dont know and it really doesnt matter anymore, the urge is here and it aint going anywhere anytime soon.

Aside from having the S&W syndrome, I love sarcasm, I love being cynical, I dont know why but nothing amuses me like talking all sugar about some bullshit and have other person agreeing with it...

I guess its the comedy of life, something thats ridiculous to me is very serious to somebody else and vice versa.

But are there any ties between sarcasm and IQ? Are "dumb" people blind to it?

This is especially obvious on Facebook. I can write some asinine, outlandish shit and I can guarantee someone will take it serious.

I cant tell you how much I LOVE people who comment on my Facebook shit in real life. Oh man. I can write some sarcastic shit monday and have someone asking me "hey man whats up with that shit you said on FB" by tuesday...

The fuck are people thinkin?

Are people 100% inherently, hopelessly, utterly flat out gullible?
 


I don't think it's what is generally classified as intelligence but more a social cue that some people just don't get. Could probably fall under social intelligence in the intelligence spectrum, so you still have incredibly intelligent people that just don't get sarcasm.

This is new. So being sarcastic is being passive agressive but trolling isnt?

Trolling is basically sarcasm mixed with short bus humor...aint it?
 
We love to be sarcastic to boost your self image. To make ourselves feel superior than others. To make yourself right and others wrong. Why do we do that? Because we believe that self-image (ego, illusory self that doesn't exist) to be ourselves. When we are feeling right and others are wrong we feel expanded inside. If someone puts us down (owns us) we feel greatly diminished.

Very shaky ground to be own. Has nothing to do with true intelligence or wisdom.

Also why are you sarcastic? Because rather than seeing similarities between yourself and others and being compassionate, you choose to see differences. Sure there are differences, but are we that different? Most of us are full of psychological issues, fears, false believes and conditioning that we choose to ignore. Some might have issues that are slightly different than you do, but in principle they are all the same.

But yeah, of course, there are probably a lot of high IQ sarcastic ppl out there. Is IQ the same as intelligence though? You can be super immature nerd yet have a high IQ... So is high IQ a great asset if it is not combined with compassion?
 
Sarcasm is a defense mechanism because deep down inside you know you are powerless over your life.

Being sarcasting isnt being powerless I should say. Example of my sarcasam. News headline about, oh lets say the ellection.

Now, in my eyes, and yes I do see the world thru them and gauge it accordingly, the elections are ridiculous, expensive and overall preposterous way to sell promises and demagogy to poor ratchet people.

So I get up, read the headlines and post some "oh this is great look at all the smart shit Obama said" post on FB - and I get people talkin hell yea Obama and fuck Romney.



That being said, theres a guy on youtube called wearechange who interviewed people asking them how do they feel on Romneys politics for 2012 - but what he actually did was using Obamas policies as if those came from Romneys office.

And what did people say? Exactly, they shitted on Romney.



So being sarcastic isnt being passive agressive.

Being sarcastic and cynical is just a way to deal with all the stupid people in this world...

Sarcasm isn't a sign of intelligence, it's a sign of insecurity.

So, incidentally, is posting threads on forums asking if a trait which you describe yourself as having in spades is positively correlated with intelligence.

Because let's face it, this thread isn't "aren't people gullible?", it's "aren't I clever?", You're just talking about other people as a way of talking about yourself, without explicitly talking about yourself.

Sounds like you are using sarcasm to mask the fact that you have no control over the elections, what people think, and once again you have no control over who controls you.

I have quite a sarcastic sense of humour, although I don't think it makes me more or less intelligent than other people. I think it depends on its application as to what it says of the person using it.

No it just means they actually believe they can change something by getting involved. No defense mechanism needed when you actually believe you have control over something.

You believe this and because of that your brain tries to cope with the fact that you are powerless. Your ego hates being powerless. It despises it so it uses defense mechanisms to protect itself. Some use sarcasm, some use violence, some go into hiding. Everyone deals with it differently, but the fact is your ego is putting up walls to deal with the fact that it has absolutely no control over that situation. So laugh it off if you need to but don't pretend you're smarter than the rest of the world just because you can make a smart ass comment.
