I've been following presidential candidate Ron Paul for a while now, but I've never actually sat through an entire interview or actually listened to what the guy has to say. Well, more and more, I am seeing myself drift more towards a vote for Ron Paul rather than Mccain or Guliani. What's the difference between Ron Paul and all other presidential candidates? The guy is speaking about topics that everyone wants change for and more. He doesn't seem to pick just one or two issues he would like to focus on, instead he tells you all of them, and a general reason or concept on HOW to change it, which has never happened before.. This guy is the real deal, and whether you're a democrat, liberal, republican, conservative, or just unaffiliated American citizen, you should seriously consider voting for this guy for at least winning the primaries coming up this year for the 2008 presidential campaign candidate. I'm pretty sure this guy is going to get my vote from what I've read, seen and heard about him so far.

Here's a video. 60 minute interview that I saw on Quadszilla's blog seoblackhat.com. I sat through the whole damn thing, and it was both entertaining, and educational. It's hosted at Google's HQ. Anyway, judge it for yourself.

Ron Paul Interview at Googleplex - 60 mins

Ron Paul is the real deal. I'm so worried that his choice to run on the Republican party will keep stubborn hard-core lefties from realizing that he does, indeed, stand for a change and can't be lumped in with a majority of the GOP.

He doesn't balk and he tells the truth. No matter if it's unpopular or not. He's the only candidate that has my vote.

Too bad it doesn't look like he has a chance of winning with the mass media shunning him at every chance, though.

We should all get together and swing the vote in his favor via Blackhat SEO, Mailing, and other fun ways to get him the attention he deserves, and to overthrow the control of the mass media that sorta snuffs the smaller sometimes better candidates out of the running.

I'm in.

Ron Paul is for dismantling the Federal Reserve.
Ron Paul is for dismantling the IRS.
Ron Paul is for a return to the gold standard.
Ron Paul is for overhauled foreign policy and domestic policy. What does this mean? It means he wants to stop spending BILLIONS on other countries and spend it here - where we need it.
Ron Paul is for a return of states rights.
Ron Paul is against the RealID Act.
Ron Paul is for lower taxes.
Ron Paul is for smaller federal government.

I can go on and on...

I think I saw something about him also being for getting rid of income taxes and allowing farmers to grow hemp as a crop... and he's a REPUBLICAN... from TEXAS!! Unreal!

Seems like he is very much in the middle for a lot of topics that everyone else is either on the left or right with very little, if any compromise. It's a bit surreal to think of a politician who actually cares about the country and constitutional right of it's people and pretty much tells everyone outside of the US "it's your problem, you deal with it". Not too shabby Dr Paul..

He actually ran for president before on the Libertarian ticket in 1988 and came in third in the popular vote.

"Paul said that he was doing more during his presidential run than reach office: he was trying to spread his liberty-minded ideas and would often talk to school groups that weren't old enough to vote. 'We're just as interested in the future generation as this election. These kids will vote eventually, and maybe, just maybe, they'll go home and talk to their parents.'" - Ron Paul - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After the elections:

"Paul continued to work as an obstetrician in Brazoria County, Texas, even while serving in Congress, delivering many of his constituents' babies. As of 2001, he was one of few doctors in the House (eight, including dentists) and part of an even smaller group that continued to practice while in office. Journalists have reported that it is not unusual for younger people in his home district to approach the congressman and say that he delivered them."

Bad Mofo.

I like him a lot (I'm Canadian though, so it doesn't really matter), too bad he's getting pegged as a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, even though he's said in interviews that he doesn't support the theory or the people who spread it. Some people refuse to acknowledge that though, Christ read the DP politics forum, or for that matter any other forum where the majority of people are dumb shits.

Wow, just watched the video and I'm very impressed. He's got my vote. My only concern was his idea about pollution (it seems he hasn't really thought through his idea of having all pollution problems solved via local governments). I mean, national pollution standards need to be in place IMO. I've heard some statistic that if we had the same gas mileage requirements as the UK, we would not be dependent on foreign oil. Kinda shitty that this may need to be done though, I want a Shelby GT500 :D

I'm 18 and I'm looking forward to voting for the first time. Pretty cool there's a candidate who is smart, and has some very innovative ideas. I can't believe he's a republican though. Anyway, I'd be up for writing something to give youtube views. That could actually have a big impact, especially this early in the election.

What's funny is that Ron Paul's views are what the traditional republicans and old conservatives believed in. A very small central government, state's rights, the preservation of individual life, liberty, and property. Not to mention, the preservation of our Constitution...

Most, if not all of the other Republican candidates support the neo-conservative foreign policy agenda. Which WILL result in big government and higher intrusion on liberties. They basically believe that individualism is eroding American society, and America should continually be at war in order to unite the nation. Installing democratic governments throughout the world along the way.

Vote Ron Paul.

God I hate me the republican party, but I do love me some Ron Paul.

He's so completely different and real than all of the other candidates from both parties. America is so fucked now that it doesn't matter if you're voting democratic or republican, it's the same fucking shit. Ron Paul is the answer.

I'm in for getting him some real attention.

I saw an interview with him and he certainly seems different from other politicians.

Shame he's against abortion (still hard for an outsider to understand why that's still an issue in the US).

I've not really kept track of who's running, but from what I've seen Dennis Kuchnich and John Edwards both seem to be decent people who talk sense certainly better than Obama or Clinton on the democrat side.

Gulliani is a wanker and McCain seems like a more intelligent (devious?) Bush.

Like it or not, this is going to affect the whole world and I really don't think anyone who is in their 60s or 70s should get the job - it needs a younger perspective.

Im at work so Ill leave my reply short. Ron Paul is the fucking man.

Jon hit the nail on the head saying that he is concerned with the issues the people are concerned about.

He presents himself in a very matter of fact manner. He is armed to the teeth in facts and defends everything he says in a way where he seems like 'well it did/did not work well when we did it here... why should we do it again'?

Jon, check out some of the crazy bullshit places like MSNBC are pulling to keep Ron Paul silenced. Search digg for it.

Ill be heated if a man as great as Ron Paul gets silenced by mainstream media. Hes got my vote.

Reading Ron Paul's website he sounds very isolationist. That could be a good thing (for the world), but coupled with small government not keeping US multinationals in check then it seems that while the US government may stop trying to run the world, they will be more than happy to allow US companies to carry on doing so.

Interesting to hear the UN and WTO spoke of in similar terms - two organisations that couldn't be more different, though both try to run the world in their way.

Anyone know what his policies are on Israel? Going by the rhetoric it would seem that he might stop the military aid, but would that cost too many votes to state it clearly on his site?

This makes interesting reading...

"Our military and political leaders will not be tried by the International Criminal Court..... Let us hope and pray that I am wrong on all accounts. If so, I will be very pleased."

Would he, could he send Bush, Cheney, et al to The Hague? That'd be worth a vote!

Last I checked I didnt think Ron Paul was against abortion but rather wanted it to be a State matter rather then be handled by the feds

That's not the way he comes across on his site:

"The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle."

As a side note: over-population is one issue no politician anywhere seems prepared to tackle. (Abortion isn't the answer, but banning it is part of the problem.)

Gah - abortion is SO messed up. I am very pro-small government, so I have trouble with the idea that government should regulate peoples' private lives for any reason, BUT, I have also had three babies and it's hard for me to process the act of abortion as anything but murder. (And I say that meaning that if *I* had an abortion, I would classify that as murder for myself.)

And prior to a conversation that I had last night, I had never truly considered the implications of an abortion without the father's consent. Ugh. I can't even imagine what that would be like for a man. (But this doesn't necessarily mean that required consent is the answer, either.)

Laura

PS. I hate the 'womens' rights' 'glass ceiling' 'equal treatment' crap that feminazis dish out, so this has nothing to do with that... this is *purely* my opinion that has been shaped by my life experience. I did *not* feel exactly this way prior to becoming a mother, so I fully understand how others don't arrive at the same conclusion and I wouldn't expect anyone here to change their mind based on anything I have to say. :D

You got my vote. I especially like this part: "I hate the 'womens' rights' 'glass ceiling' 'equal treatment' crap that feminazis dish out..."

Jon I like the bh SEO idea, but what the man needs more than anything else is funding.

The United States political elections have turned into competition where the candidate with the most resources has the highest chance of winning.

By the way, Ron Paul is not against Abortion - he specifically said that it's not up to the federal government to decide - each state will need to decide their own abortion laws.
