I can't believe it if it's true.. A ton of the sites on there are pure garbage. $50K for a generic news site with a million UV a month, that has like 200 total pages with no ads or income, question the "traffic". $2-5K for a lousy Wordpress site, looks like someone slapped it together in 24 hours. And $20K for a shopping website that claims $100K/year income, but sells for $30K...

Is the marketplace there really that sketchy? I can understand that, but my question is are people really sending over payments? Seeing tons of $2-5K sales with questionable websites..

Sometimes I look through that "Just Sold" section and think no fucking way someone paid $10k for a 1 month old site that claims 100k of organic traffic from the googlz and doesn't rank for a single keyword.

But then again some troll from Malaysia just ran a 200k ponzi skeme on supposed internet marketers, so I suppose anything is possible :485:

Flippa is big on Adwords and facebook and I don't know what kind of idiots they target, but they have their targeting right. Those monies are real... I have seen very high XX,XXX in my account from flippa and none of the buyers had any fucking clue what they were buying into... Not that I sold any lemons, but they were clueless

Two Buyers:
"A" had a very successful website. Only because he was a very good programmer and he had a very unique website. He doesn't know anything about SEO. All this visitors are word of mouth and referral. I would have given one of my kidnies for his site. All he know was he gets a lot of money from his website. So he was shopping.

"B" is a very successful blogger. Got all his income from his hobby blog with millions of followers. He also doesn't know anything about the grey side, or even affiliate marketing.. Well I gave him lessons on "Affiliate Marketing". He was surprised to learn about CPA and lead gen. But he is a damn good writer/blogger. And that was his asset. I would have given my other kidney for his writing skillez. I still read his blog.. SO he also knew that "websites" generate money. Only he was amazed that my static site with couple hundred pages was making a few K a month, with only a few minutes of maintenance a day lol.

I am sure there are tons of others like that... I also know a few people who raised bank loans to buy sites at 12-15X monthly profit, without too much knowledge.. Maybe they read too many MMO blogs...

But yes, the buyers there are for the realz..

"A" & "B" are the normal people - thats how 99% of the internet users and even website owners are.

People here forget that to often.

So you'll be kidney less if you get site of A and writing skills of B.

So, anyone willing to do a case study entitled "Making a Million Dollars selling MFAs on Flippa"

I've seen so many sites worth 50 bucks at most sold at USD S5,000......

Someone bought a site off me for £XX,XXX that was ranking for some med-high competition terms, and he called me 4 months later because the site had slipped to the second page. Turns out he simply didn't have any idea about how websites rank and hadn't done any work at all.

He'd bought a site before and it stayed on the first page, and he just assumed mine would too.
Before the sale I even asked if he planned to SEO the site himself, or hire someone, and he ignored my question. At the time I thought he was avoiding answering so that I wouldn't upsell my SEO services, but now I think he just didn't understand what I was saying.

Sold a site on flippa for x,xxx. Owner didn't even bother to replace the affilate links, but he had time to change the website design thus lowering the ctr. After about 1 month he stopped do anything to the website. I kept making money until he let the site get hacked and completely die.

The marketplace is very sketchy, but that's due to the majority of moron buyers.

This guy kills it lol

I personally know those guys from Flipping Enterprises and they are trusted brokers and one of the best out there. They are not just selling websites via flippa but they also have established client base so many websites never gets to the flippa and are sold privately.

They have sold their own websites but majority of the websites are their clients websites.

If we talk about scam in flippa then I have to agree that 50% of those websites are useless and 45% are scam and only remaining 5% websites are worth to check. It is ridiculously hard to find decent websites on flippa but there are a quite a few of them.

The man thing is to check verified Google Analytics data because it is hard to fake these statistics but the rest can be done in Photoshop and other tools so don't trust sales figures.

I think someone should do a flippa case study "how I sold my $50 site for 5k on flippa"

would be a good read :D

I sold a piece of shit site for like $5k there, it was making about $5 a day - but I removed monetization and just sold it based on traffic and for some reason two guys got in a bidding war.

Sold it like 2 years ago and the guy still hasn't tried to monetize it.
