It's weird I always, ONLY, hear bad shit about Dreamhost yet so many people use them. Blows my mind away!
Never fails...... except for the day after the GS rollout where everything went down for a day... Or the week after that where everything went down for a couple hours a day, while they worked the "bugs" out... Or the mysql problems that existed for about a month after that intermittently...
But hey... Every host has their troubles, plus I got a year free and an iPod for being a beta tester, so go Mediatemple!

Well, they ain't that bad. And they are one of the 3 hosting providers (#2) (*aff) recommended by wordpress.org.
And, with their own custom CP software they are much more easy to use and understand then #1 rec Bluehost.
They seem to have a major 10-17 hr outage every 3-4 months or so. But at $8 a month, and half of that covered with a coupon you don't really care about it when you are just starting.

Yeah they had a few hiccups there while they were getting it all straightened out but since then it's been smooth sailing.
I personally don't have this level of traffic but friends of mine who have sites that have been dugg said they survived the digg effect with just a normal grid server.

I havee two accounts with Lunarpages, one with Hostgator, and one with Netfirms.
Netfirms sucks, Hostgator is a bit too expensive, but Lunarpages is juuuust riiiight.

If you are doing a lot of PPC you should be using a site monitoring service... websitepulse is pretty good. It will send an email or text alert to your phone whenever your site is down.
