Nope - not unless they are aggressively expansionist as a culture. China aren't and never have been, certainly not globally (tibet and taiwan being regional concerns). They're far more interested in influencing Africa, because that's where the most natural resources are.
If you want to understand China's global strategy, learn to play Go. As westerners, we think in terms of attack and invasion (like chess), then we try to project that on to other cultures. Their approach has always been very different. Read Sun Tzu, learn to play Go, understand Chinese tactics.
