Firearms thread - enthusiasts only please

If the uppers, parts kits, barrels, etc were readily available, I'd do it and then run 1000 rounds through it just for shits and giggles.

Polymer lowers aren't bad at all, and typically the manufacturer is required to replace it if it breaks.

The ONLY area I've seen them break is the front pin that connects the lower to the upper. If you release the back pin and let the whole weight of the upper (up to 10lbs) slam on the lower, the front pin can break out. This was even a case on the original XM16.

So you guys have intrigued me to build one of these. Knowing these lowers are going for stupid money right now. What do you think a ballpark would be to part one of these out? I'm talking about an average build. Not a $5000 barrel or anything real high end. I realize costs are going to vary widely depending on quality and demand. Just a ballpark

Today? Around $1200.

Prior to all this crazyness, you could easily do one for $550-$600.

1. Buy a 3d printer
2. Print a bunch of lower receivers for yourself, with the ability to print more even after any bans
3. Print more
4. Sell to people you know
5. That's it
6. Profit

Why you outin entire process? Ban?

The local Scheels here has a bunch of PMAGs in stock. I just picked up 10 (that's all they would let me have). Going back tomorrow for another 10.

Just bought a defensive rifle for our country place.

Planning on raising some cattle on the place for fun and profit. Problem is I would most likely end up with a gay bull. After I show min how it's done about a dozen times I might need to use this on him. :)

That video made me want to puke. But the part where Feinstein says "I have been working on this bill for over a year"

It's funny how she waited until those poor innocent souls had to loose their lives before introducing it on the national stage. And now it's magically ready to go

3d printed lowers aren't strong enough to sustain normal usage. Maybe a few rounds before it breaks in a test environment, but nothing substantial.

On the other hand, you can buy a 80% lower which doesn't require any paperwork and finish it out with hand tools and JB weld.

That's prob something we don't want to talk about to much ATM. That bitch in CA gets wind of it and that goes away to

Daniel Defense isn’t flinching and they aren’t raising prices. | Military Times GearScout

My local gun shop walls look like the bottled water aisle the night before a hurricane. It’s amazing that nearly everything (except Hi-Points) disappeared in the course of a weekend.

But! Check out that photo of Daniel Defense’s shop wall. If you’re still looking to buy an AR or need a few parts to complete a build, DD has you covered. I spoke with them about the state of the industry in the wake of this past week’s AR-pocalypse. They told me they were in good shape.

Over the summer, they forecasted and prepared for significant demand — anticipating a repeat of the post election panic buy of 2008.

“After meeting with our current dealer and distributor networks earlier this year,” says Jay Duncan, Vice President, Sales & Marketing for Daniel Defense, “we established an extremely aggressive build schedule to better meet the end consumer’s demand for our product line.”

That means that after fulfilling all their dealer and distributor commitments, they’ve still got enough stock left over to produce custom builds using the DDM4 Custom builder site, and offer upper receiver groups, rails and barrels for sale at current pricing. This is great news when wait times for other manufacturers of parts, let alone complete guns, is months-long and prices are sky high. And, before you ask; no, DD doesn’t sell stripped lowers.

Keep in mind, the DDM4 custom build site automatically goes off-line when they have more orders than they can complete that day. So, hit it just after the counter resets after midnight for the best chance of getting in line. Duncan says delivery times for custom builds is running about 10 to 14 days.

Also - for those looking for stripped lowers: Check out "slickguns.com".... daily reports from who has what and at what price. I found a few Rock River Arms stripped lowers from there on the 20th.
