On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his ex-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. Just thought you’d like to know.
 


The title should be "Media Ignores Shooting Stopped by Police Officer".

He also never shot his girlfriend if you read the San Antonia local news, the story you copy and pasted is full of inaccuracies.

"I'm not going to lie; it was frightening," she said. "But, you know, the training kicks in. And thank you to the sheriff's office for all of the training that we're given."

You argued for gun control by posting a picture that said West Germany was still a country. Your opinion is irrelevant.

lol you don't actually believe the bullshit spilling out of your mouth, right? Police officers are the only citizens that have or are capable of having training with firearms in hostile situations? If it was a retired vet instead of a cop your 'point' would be moot.

If you are going to try to bend logic to make it coincide with your own personal values, try being a little less transparent about it, because that post made you look like an idiot.

Yeah, but the story wasn't about a retired vet or any random hero citizen, it was a police officer.

Bending logic by pointing out the inaccuracies of the story? The only one bending things here is the OP with the misleading title and bullshit copy and paste job. Also missing the fact that the off duty officer was working as a security guard for the theatre that night.

If you want to post something worthwhile, why not post stories about regular joe's shooting criminals, I know it happens but it's far, far from common.

You should be happy, she was technically a privately employed security guard of the theatre.

Show us some regular joe's preventing massacres, that's ultimately what it's all about.
 
You're deflecting. The logic I was referring to, as you well know, was the not-so-subtle implication about the training of a police officer.

Statistically speaking , a trained CCW permit holder is more effective at stopping crime than a trained police officer.

Less number of rounds fired, lower number of bystandards killed by accidental off-target rounds, fewer innocent people killed due to response times.

Unfortunately they got sued into oblivion by righthaven and haven't started listing the stories like they used to, archive.org still has some indexed/cached articles.

If I had time I could compile a few dozen more, but I don't have all day, those were the most important ones off the top of my head.

Being under the impression that police offers are the only ones who should be defending everyone, you're allowing the criminal element to prevail and denying the very idea of the right to self-protection.

Didn't you miss the point?
It isn't that "only someone with training is capable of firing a gun" (I think your current gun laws are fine), it's that the OP is making a point of this story being overlooked since it shows the benefits of legal gun ownership among civilians, when that isn't what happened in this particular story.

The nationwide media aren't necessarily going to go crazy over the story because "Cop Stops Criminal" happens everyday.
