Jeff Berwick, a very successful Canadian Anarchist who owns the Dollar Vigilante is being interviewed here on his economic outlook... It's scary stuff folks, but it's 100% true and you need to take note:

His is not, by the way, the same libertarian community starting in Chile that I have referred to in the past. It's a whole different libertarian community in Chile... :eek7:

That's how serious things are getting now, gentlemen.

Be ready to roll.

He says the government is 40% of GDP.

If they spend roughly 3.5 trillion and the GDP is 15 trillion, that's 23%. What is he talking about?

Interesting, but his numbers are bullshit, and man he gives a shit interview.

That's a good question... I've just scoured his blog looking for that math and can't find it. However, there are many satellite industries around the government that rely on the government, which I doubt are figured into your 3.5 trillion figure. All the corporate cronyism going on around here may be something he's found a way to put some solid numbers into, which I'll keep looking for.

If Chile's population were more European, I'd be all over that country like stink on a monkey.
Just give it a minute; Euro crash in 5...4...3...

shit interview may be a little generous.
True, he's not an eloquent speaker. Wish he's take lessons from Ron Paul and Tom Woods... He sure writes a lot though.

Which market... That's the question.
A great question, but one we could probably ferret out with logic here.

If the USD drops, more people will be into gold and other precious metals than ever before, so clearly mining and related services are on their way up. (As if that wasn't already obvious by their charts.)

I think that MacG would recommend shorting the falls though; so what is going to fall hard? What businesses rely on uncle sam for their existence? Security is the big one that I can think of, but it's obviously going to grow hard before the stiff fall... Which of course might happen at the same time that the NYSE is closed for the final time. :(

Myself, I'd rather concentrate on preserving wealth. Gold, Bitcoin, & Silver, in that order.

3,000,000,000 people joining the middle classes at a rate of millions per year.

"Canadian Anarchist" interpretation? The sky is falling since the economy is going to collapse because of made up numbers! OMG, run!

Lulz, you do realize that almost all of that 3 Billion are in Asia, right?

...That kind of helps his point out quite a bit.

Yeap, and the USA has no exports, amirite?

I guess the idea of balancing out trade surpluses around the world is truly terrible.

Given: World leaders can choke the system any moment they want to by cutting off credit supply (like happened in the great depression). So we can have a true financial disaster at any time. But... the long term world economic fundamentals are good. The only question is how long till the world can't take any more human development (as an ecosystem). It isn't going away any time soon though, the world's ecosystem is much stronger than we give it credit for (and our power much weaker)

Luke, if I'm gonna live down in Chile, I need to know what the women look like.

Only one person can answer that question for us....
