New version was released this week, it's slick. 2013 install streamed to your PC in 5 minutes.

Kicks G apps - 30 free trial. Outlook web works offline and renders to what ever device your on.

Ideal for working with VA's and all that cloud shit.

Why use something like this over say, Open/Libre Office? Personally I don't understand why anyone pays for an office suite.

A year or so ago, I would've agreed with you. But Excel and Word (Excel especially) kick Openoffice's ass.

Everything's laid out clearly, rather than rows of tiny buttons. Conditional formatting works on a slow-graduating colour scale with 2 clicks. H1s/H2s/H3s can be done with a single click, for easy copy + pasting to wordpress. Can't remember the name of a function? Dropdown menus with one click.

Removing duplicate rows is easy, and no longer requires you to write a macro. Again, just a couple of clicks. What-If Analysis again, with 2 clicks.

I could go on all day, but you get the point. Can always pirate it just to try it out for a week or two.

(Oh yeah, one thing I hate about OpenOffice - that recovery wizard. When I just want to open a file, don't bug me about recovering previous ones.)
 
I used Open Office for around 7 years, then about a year ago I had to make the change back to MS Office (forget why, but it was work related).

After 7 years of Open Office, MS Office was a welcome relief. It works smoothly, without the hiccups I was used to dealing with in OO.

At under $300, it paid for the time I used to lose to OO's twitchiness in the first day.

Outlook alone makes it worth it for me.

However, not sure I'm willing to upgrade just yet, especially since it was just released. I'd like to wait awhile so they can work out whatever bugs there are.
 
I`ll have to check this out, I mainly use Outlook2007 and I reckon it's time for an upgrade :eek:

Is there a need for Google Sync with this new version or does iMAP work 'fast' ?
 
Joe's wins this argument, i was going to mention excel - nothing compares. Check out flash fill - i know a few gay webmasters that will find this function very handy.

Downloading now to check it out. Def looks like Microsoft may actually have a winner here! Not to mention a serious edge over any other full suite that I can think of.
 
The new Office 365 is cool except for Outlook which is horrible, absolutely crap design with white, white, white, which makes your eyes strain to read anything. The rest is fine.

Yeah, I don't like the all-white look on Excel either. Anyone know if you can change it back to 2007 style with the blue skin?
