I see that some of these platforms offer billboards as a marketing solution and can't help but think how well it would work for certain niches. Just wondering if anyone here has ever tried this technique for getting leads, etc.

depending on the niche it can really pay off - strip club billboards near the exits are $$

then there are local ones like these

that really rake in the calls etc.

its just like doing PPC advertising, its all about placement, creative and demographic.

to answer your question, I have not done billboards but I have done bus stops and taxicab advertising, both of which paid off after I was able to optimize my ad properly.

Where I love billboards can get easily into 6 figures - Miami 95/595 area or places like the beltway in DC, or obviously places like Timesquare etc can get up there.

Great question tho - would love to see if any publishers/advertisers here who have experience with this

Waste of money. $4,000/month around here. Really depends on ad/niche. We've done a few..

Plus that doesn't include creating the artwork, the vinyl, and installation costs either.

I FUCKING LOVE this billboard, and in general I really enjoy copy like that.

I used to flypost. Worked really, really well, but you need to be careful because the local authories constantly want your ass for it, and if you do it in the wrong area you can run into organised crime types.

Shawn, I personally like the billboards that animate. Like this one I found off I-95

Here in the city phone poles act as billboards/bulletin boards with layers and layers of ads stapled over the years for upcoming events from band performances, hemp fest, yoga, etc...depending on the niche.

This is a good example of the amount of ads people are subjected to daily. How does one ad stick out from the rest of them? That's a problem. Also the same can be said with billboards, what's going to differentiate you from from the rest. The science of advertising is probably my favorite subject because they do say you're only one ad away from your next million dollars. I'd love to do some client work in this space if I found the right guy who wanted to be more direct about things.

Yeah my girlfriend works for a public relations/communications agency and there's crazy amounts of money in it.
