30 Seconds of charging to fully charge your phone? Coming to a location near you.

Charging up super fast will be cool... Need to consult with the Google to see if "power density of ~200 W cm−3" means we'll also see insane capacity increases.

Thats 200 watts per cubic centimeter. Take for instance your current phone battery is say 400Mah. 10 watts if like 400-800ish Mah. So if you can get 200 wants in a single centimeter you could prlably get like 20+ centimeters into a phone.

So 20cm = 2000watts = 160,000Mah
Say you get 1 full day out of your 800mah battery. You could get 200 days battery life. Science people, I think my calculations are correct?

That was badass.

I know we're in a monetary system hence versioning tech is lucrative but fuck - we're in 2013, tech is insane why the fuck does it still take me 8hrs to charge a lil' phone??! This is long overdue and probably not new to the ptb.

Surprised dude isn't dead already for messing with monster money.

I could swear this is a repost, if not I seen it somewhere else. Cool though, that is for sure.

This is soooo OLD. But still Awesome!

I mean it's been at least a year or two since I've seen that video in the first place on some odd site..
Seems like big companies will keep this from ever surfacing into the real world so quickly..

Yeah it was discovered in 2011. You could make this shit pretty easily.

pretty neat.. Should change everything from flashlights to car power. I imagine it pulls a ton of power to charge so power corps would be happy.

From what I hear, the early versions don't have the capacity that they want, but they are making progress.

The best of thebest UCs are at 200wh/cm3 , the best of the best Li-Ion batteries right now are in the area of 450/cm3.

NiMh can yield up to 300wh/cm3 cheaply, but no one likes to use em as they can be heavy.

Onto solar recharging our houses and cars. fuck you electric company and exxon mobil.

Not gonna happen for a long time brahs. Our current battery tech will stay very much the same for a while

With the implications of this discovery to energy usage and what and how it changes energy consumption, those are my thought immediately. Anything that cuts into the profits or provides an alternative to the present energy monopoly will be killed off.

A company like Tesla would have real incentive in bringing this tech to the real world, since Musk's biggest problem right now is people requiring to wait atleast half an hour to charge up their cars.

If charging can be made fast, electric car adoption can really take off.

Damn, you hear about cell phone and laptop batteries exploding. I assume the intensity of the explosion is relative to the amount of stored energy being released. If one of these bad boys blows up it'll be like a small nuke going off in your pocket or briefcase.

This is a fraud. We have already invented all that we need. You already have phones that can stay charged anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. You have electric cars that can go a 100 miles. You simply don't need or want this in your pocket. It will surely give you cancer. If it doesn't give you cancer maybe it will be a heart attack. Do you want to die for what might not even be innovation? I didn't think so. Nothing to see here. Move along
