anyone rec. good headphones

I've got a pair of the Bose qc 15s and they are solid as fuck. The noise canceling is great if you have a dog or girlfriend and you can wear them forever and they are never uncomfortable. The inline volume and mic is killer but you can find that elsewhere.

The QC15 are boss, especially if you use the subway or fly a lot.

They are amazing for long airplane rides. Great for international flyers and worth the investment if you travel a lot.

The noise cancelling is incredible. Too bad my dumbass friend has it in Atlanta cause he put it in his bag and forgot to take it out before leaving my dorm in Canada.

This is about the 10th time we've had this thread. Once again I will recommend anything by Shure, their headphone and earbuds are fantastic, or Sony MDR-7506 (replace the pleather earcups with velour ones from Behringer).

I have these as well and love them. ~500 4 and 5 star reviews on Amazon can't be wrong. I'll have to look into replacing the cups as you suggest as the stock ones are starting to peel back a bit even though I keep them on a hanger when not in use.

Are you a base head? If you're eyeing up some shitty Beats by Dre you are, so do yourself a favor grab these instead:

Amazon.com: Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, 80 ohms: Electronics

They sound a lot better amped BTW. There is also a 250 ohm version if you have the gear to push it, although from what I heard they aren't that different. I have the 80 ohms and they are great.

Word.
Beyerdynamic has awesome stuff, but you really need an amp to fully enjoy them. Can't live without my [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-AMS-DT-990-Pro-250-Professional-Acoustically-Applications/dp/B0011UB9CQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1366276472&sr=1-1&keywords=beyerdynamic+dt+990+pro"]DT 990[/ame] anymore.

Actually, I think the replacement cups come from Beyerdynamic not Behringer.

These ones... Beyerdynamic Padded Earcushions for DT250/DT280 942704 B&H Photo

Also looks like these guys make some as well...

They are pretty easy to replace and are much more comfortable, less sweaty, for long sessions.

Any recommendations on any good "cheaper" models that can be modded (remove diaphragms?) to improve to the premium model? I know I have read about this being possible w/ some models in the past. Not sure if its still that easy though.
Superlux HD681s are for you. Fucking awesome, ignore the low price, they kick ass (but need to be burnt in to really show what they're made of). I'm on my 5th pair (not their fault, I forget I'm wearing headphones and end up walking out of the room with them on and bend the jack)

They're great without modifications, but even better (apparently, only mod I've done was removing the "do not remove" sticker to bring out the bass more) with mods.

See massive thread talking about them: Superlux HD-681 modifications | Rock Grotto (about modifications, but also contains a lot of discussion about the headphones themselves - review from the admin of that forum: http://rockgrotto.proboards.com/post/58839 )

Recommendations for earbuds? Headphones are too damn big for the travel life.

I used to spend a decent amount on really good earbuds but got tired of them getting fucked up in my pockets. No joke, these sound amazing and are fucking $6: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RPHJE120K-In-Ear-Headphone-Black/dp/B003EM8008/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1366304014&sr=8-1&keywords=earbud+headphone]Amazon.com: Panasonic RPHJE120K In-Ear Headphone, Black: Electronics[/ame]

They really are great headphones for the price, and if they get broken who cares.

^^ I hear what dchuk is saying and it's hard to beat decent sounding $6 earbuds. However, the sound quality on the Shure's is remarkable, the cables are extra heavy duty AND they are now completely replaceable if you should happen to somehow destroy them (or you want to swap them out for a mobile cable with a mic and controls).

I've had mine for 6 years, and the model I have was from before the cables were detachable, and I've taken them everywhere with me traveling, working remotely, etc. and they are still in top notch shape. They come with a great little hard case with a spindle to wind them around and about 20 different earpieces so you can get the perfect fit.

Can't see any solid information on it, but can shure's (without third party) be custom molded? I have weird ears, never had much luck with ear buds staying in my ear, even over the ear ones.

Outside of custom molding, I use these in the gym or when snowboarding:

Yeah, yeah, I know they are Bose. They aren't the greatest thing in the world. They are better then the $20 cheapos though. But if there is something these do better than any others, they will stay in your ears.

Got this shit and it sounds fucking good.

You can resize the image so it's not annoying.

I got these for the gym: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00829E7XC/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: LG Electronics HBS-700W Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Headset - Retail Packaging - White/Orange: Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame]

Bluetooth, so I don't have a wire going from head to my pocket. They sound decent and have good battery life.

Also have these: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AGH81M6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: Bluetooth Headphones - Built in Microphone - High Quality Sound - Perfect Fit Sleek Design - Silver Color: Electronics[/ame] for watching Youtube videos on the iPad while others are watching TV. Better sound, but not as comfortable for long periods. The tend to pinch the tops of my ears.

I'm currently using the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ULAP4U/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Audio-Technica ATH-M50[/ame] ..excellent sound quality, comfortable.

I've got a lot of knowledge in this space. What exactly are you using them for? Recreational, computer use, gaming, DJ, etc?

The BBD's are the most popular but get AWFUL reviews in the actual music community. SKULL Candy has some terrible products but their new stuff (mixmasters, navigators) gets some good reviews.
