Some of you fuckheads said getting a job was a waste of time. Well, I had brain surgery 2 weeks ago, started a new jobs 9 days later, and am working on some killer shit as a programmer now, have way better ideas for making money, etc.

So I threw a little app together that matches a shitty screenshot image i snapped of the Wickedfire logo and if I had a higher quality img it would be a lot smoother finding it. But anyhow, the future of interactive content is going to be engulfed in augmented reality. Pop your camera open and have interactive, dynamic shit pop out thanks to augmented reality.

So it only spawns some rocks, trees and a skeleton, if I had a cool 3d skull with flames I'd spawn that instead. But you can spawn whatever, a 3d village with villagers, then can apply game logic to them to increment skills/stats as they fight, etc.

The future will let you interact with led billboards in timesquare in real time, or for large corporations who set up cool displays featuring autmented reality. But even like magazine covers can be recognized to populate shit related to them in the world around the user.

I uploaded the app and 3 other textures that it responds to when you point your phone at them, you can print them out or open them in windows on a monitor: Index of /AR the apk is for android phones or tablets that have a camera.

This is how the other 3 textures respond:

Glad you're still alive after surgery.

That said, the fuck is all this noise? AR is pretty easy with Unity (which is what it appears you're using).

Congrats though I guess.

this isnt new, webcam software has been doing this for nearly 10 years

Well thats nice, but the thread is titled "the future".

I forgot about the Wii U and the zombie thing too

The future part he is referring to is in the second half of his post. I recommend you checkout some reading comprehension classes.

Congratulations on the surgery going well shindig - I read up about the procedure when you posted about it before; it looks like a very serious op (states the obvious)!

edit: Oh, and good to see you're back up and programming again so quickly!

impressive, what were you before the surgery?
physical labor.

What I'm using this for is pretty cool at work. Imagine 2 playing cards, you put them on the desk and point your phone at them, each card will spawn the player model of the card with it's stats, if you move the cards close enough to each other, they start fighting. I'm not using baseball cards but something else. When one is slain it dies. lol They can cast spells/fireballs at each other and stuff too.

Other uses would be a game map, you unfold it and scan your phone over it to populate 3d villages, dungeons, etc and can watch the 3d model villages go about their business, fight monsters on the outskirts of town, etc.

It tracks the objects to if you rotate them and move or rotate, which is the hard part.

Another use is to interact with giant LED billboards with your phone. You can control the content that's displayed within some limitations.

Imagine the number of likes if you had used a 3D model of googlehammer.com instead of some rocks.

:P

I thought about that, I photoshop'd pewep's face onto a 3d model and made an animation of him raping sheep, which I thought about using but it was late and I just slapped it together really fast after working on something else similar.
