fast food workers strike, want $15 per hour min wage

$15/hr? I haven't been inside a McDonalds in years, but from what I remember a lot of these places have 4-7 people on staff at any given time.

So, staffing costs of $60-$105/hour...
Rent, power, whatever franchise expenses...

I can't imagine a mcdonalds making much more than an average of $100-$200 an hour.

I wonder if these unions even take into account the operating expenses when they make such demands.

No they don't... most of them never ran a business themselves and think that a business has unlimited money just because it's a business.
 
This is so dumb, not sure why people are even talking about it.

Just let people make their own decisions and let the market work.
 
completely unskilled labor force walks off the job, dares company to somehow find their equivalent.

Business owners can't always do what they want with their own business. There are extra-market forces.

The National Labor Relations Act, enforced by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), states that an employer can't interfere with the process of unionization once employees have begun it. That would be considered an unfair labor practice.

Other examples of unfair labor practices include threatening employees with firings or reduced benefits if they join or vote for a union, or participate in the process of forming or joining one. Employers also may not threaten to close the company if employees unionize.

Employers should be careful not to question employees about union support, or treat pro-union employees any differently.

That is true, but also these are non-union workers, therefore not all of the laws apply here that would if this was a typical worker "strike" scenario.
 
I hope they replace all the workers, because then we get to watch Youtube clips of the Great Fast Food Worker Riot in Detroit, when the scabs try to get through the protesters to flip burgers. That would be pretty entertaining.
 
All I know is I know a nigga working at B.K right now, maybe he would get to be manager @ MCD if he applied....
 
Why don't the unions just buy 100 McDonald's franchises and pay all of their workers $15/hr?

When other franchisees see the massive success they will follow suit.
 
whats' the fuss all about, let them test their limits of power, even having a $0.37/h raise could also be a small victory for them without breaking the bank.
