The article doesn't really specify if the person bought a 24 pack or 24 single bottles. It just says "the store charged $42 for 24 bottles of Dasani water". The receipt says 24@$1.75. Isn't $1.75 in the normal range for a single bottle of Dasani at many stores in the US and CA? Does Home Depot even sell 24 packs of bottled water?

No idea. But the sentiment of the post was to point out the reaction, even if Home Depot's computer system made a mistake (as it says in the article), look at the outrage because its a crisis situation (and they viewed it at exploitation).
hey, the OP never specified the exact location of the convenience store. Maybe its in a posh exclusive resort, and thats the regular price. the dude didn't raise anything.
Why would you call him a cunt when he is providing a VERY important product to people to help them keep hundreds of dollars of food from spoiling.
He'd be a cunt if he dumped the shit out on the sidewalk to watch it melt while laughing at all of the people lined up looking for ice. But instead, he's selling a valuable product to people at a price they're willing to pay - that's how markets work.
Also as charlesmartel pointed out, by jacking his prices up he is encouraging others to bring more ice to the area thus increasing the overall supply until a price equilibrium is reestablished. That way, MORE people will be able to get ice than if he sold it for $2/bag.

notice how many people immediately assumed the biz owner was price gouging simply based on a picture.
imagine the biz owner with 100 bags of ice sitting behind the counter and a line of 100 people waiting...
