NSA infiltrates links to Yahoo, Google data centers worldwide, Snowden documents say - The Washington Post

Apparently, the NSA just went ahead and tapped the submarine cables, and are simply grabbing ALL traffic that flows through them. I guess why bother with a certain company, or data center here and there, when you can just go right to the source, and tap ALL communication.

For those who don't understand, any packet you send over the internet, that needs to goto a server that crosses an ocean, is being tapped by the NSA. So if you're in the UK, and visiting a site / forum hosted in the US, all that communication is being tapped.

Worst part is, you know they're going to get away with it. It's not like they're going to stop.

I remember wondering before how many countries they have agreements with to tap. Apparently, they didn't bother with that pesky part, and just bypassed it all together.
 


I always wonder how shit goes down when the gov approaches business and makes them do secret shit.

Like how all printer companies have to put those secret identification dots on the pages their printers print so it can be tracked back to the printer. Like when you're a business just making printers what does that actual negotiation look like? You either add all this extra shit or can't sell printers? What other facets of business does it happen in....?
 
This isn't news. It was news 3-4-5 years ago. Google feigns outrage, as if they give a fuck about anyone's privacy. Fuck them.
